Director Patrick Hughes‘ next big action thriller, The Expendables 3 comes out in a few weeks. The reviews are in from various websites with the film hitting some highs and lows, but Lionsgate is still debuting the upcoming third installment on the big screen on August 15 as planned. They’ve put in the effort, time, energy and finances to put the new movie together, even disclosing many of these details during the film’s recent star-studded promo tour in London where it just so happens that lead actor Sylvester Stallone also mused about hopefully casting actress Sigourney Weaver as the lead in the forthcoming production of helmer Robert Luketic’s own female-central spin-off, The ExpendaBelles. On Thursday, news broke that Killers and 21 director Robert Luketic boarded Millenium Films’ production of The ExpendaBelles for Millenium Films. The news led to a synopsis announcement detailing a covert rescue mission to infiltrate the enemy lair as high-end call girls to rescue a nuclear scientist and stop a mad dictator. While casting details are still pending, it appears that within a day of the initial report, some changes have been made to the logline for the film which now reads the following: The Expendables universe has a new team. An elite group of highly trained female mercenaries are brought together for a covert hostage rescue mission. Once they are behind enemy lines, the women discover that they will also need to topple an evil dictator bent on world domination. Four years after blockbuster action star Sylvester Stallone blew the lid with the successful franchise male-dominated all-star debut of The Expendables in 2010, fans now have an answer developing for Millenium Films’ highly anticipated all-female initiation of The ExpendaBelles with newly announced director, Robert Luketic.
