Robots, Mech Suits And Feature Length Potential In J.J. Palomo's Stunning New Sci-Fi Short, K3LOID
Browse the internet long enough, and you’ll eventually come across a lot of awesome gems along the way. But very few come with so much gloss and luster as visual director J.J. Palomo‘s upcoming shortfilm/trailer, K3loid.
Starring Marcos Gonzalez, Leopoldo Palomo and Ana Punset with close to two years in the making, K3loid is set in a dystopian future Russia where artificial intelligence is the standard bearer for war, and mankind’s own ideas becomes the ultimate tool of its imminent demise. The first trailer aired about a year ago leading up to today’s news, with the shortfilm already making headlines and going viral with major production company support for a feature-length production. And not for nothing either, as with credits as extensive as Carl Rinsch’s 2010 shortfilm, The Gift, in addition to conceptual artwork for District 9 and Avatar, and Rinsch’s upcoming release of 47 Ronin, it is no wonder why Palomo‘s visual effects studio, BLR VFX, is receiving so much love this week.
You’ll find more at the official website, and if this masterful footage hasn’t come your way yet, please, waste no more time, and simply press play, after the synopsis.
SYNOPSIS:
In a not too distant future, societies of all countries come to rely on an intricate network of artificial intelligence devices designed to bring efficacy to man’s life. Yet, man continues to devour himself in useless wars. A strong political hierarchy now divides all powers into three factions, and A. I. devices rapidly gain ground as efficiency becomes a priority.
As social revolts grow worse everyday, authorities seek ways to control their citizens. They decide to carry out a series of tests that will determine not only whether some crucial powers can be transferred to non human entities, but also whether man is ready to yield those powers.
The world has become a cell for all man and women, who withstand and endure their lives, rather than living them. Machines might have found a solution.
From now on, you are set free…
Keloid is not about robots, it is about men. Big Lazy Robot created this spec film — more than two years in the making — with the purpose of giving free reign to the creative aspects of production that many times are so much missed during profit work. And yes, we enjoyed the ride!

The Stunt People GoPro In VADER STRIKES
The evolution of the internet has provided nearly limitless opportunities for Star Wars fans to invest their share and interest in the cultural unity embodying the fanfare for Star Wars. Virtually anywhere you go online, you will see shortfilm after shortfilm dedicated to promoting independently produced stories and action sequences showcasing a variety of one’s own acting skills and martial arts prowess. I even had a friend back in college who also experimented with rotoscoping, as he was also a Star Wars fan (probably still is, lol). The first shortfilm I watched consistently and enjoyed was Duality by Crew Of Two many years ago. It goes to show the kind of quality that can come from doing something you love, especially if you love making movies.
