In the span of eight years, there have been three remakes of Gautham Vasudev Menon’s 2003 Tamil action thriller, Kaakha Kaakha. Of those three, Nishikant Kamath’s 2011 iteration, Force, grew much more prolific with particularly in favor of producer Vipul Shah whose credits are shared with the likes of some of India’s biggest action stars today. One such name that rings is that of Rocky Handsome and Dishoom star, actor John Abraham who led the film as ACP anti-narcotics officer Yashvardhan, forced to take on a vengeful, ruthless killer following the fatal arrest of his drug dealing brother. Sonakshi Sinha Asserts Her Dominance In The New Trailer For AKIRA

Director A.R. Murugadoss’s remake of the 2011 Tamil film, Mouna Guru, has since arrived in the form of the new Hindi action thriller, Akira which opens on September 2. For this, we get Bullet Raja co-star, actress Sonakshi Sinha leading the way in a gender-swapped role that sees a young, misunderstood arts student whose penchant for trouble follows her to her new life in Mumbai where she unwittingly gets swept into a plot involving corrupt cops. Sinha reportedly trained for several months prior to, as well as during production last Spring. As such, the first full trailer shows the exact result of that with some nifty wirework and action sequencing by Anl Arasu who previously worked on Murugadoss’s Kathithi (2014). It’s pretty cool and will undoubtedly lend something worthwile for female audiences and young women in India and abroad. Check it out below!

Director Prabhudheva‘s latest cinematic contribution, Action Jackson, is far from the film you might be familar with featuring actor Carl Weathers of yesteryear, and he’s not making any apologies. Here, we get actor Ajay Devgn in a dual role, one in which he hams it up as a thief who rips off other goons while in pursuit of his on-screen love interest, actress Sonakshi Sinha. Of course, you also get the usual assortment of colorful Bollywood dancers, as well as thugs waiting for their respective amounts of due bodily harm before getting thrown out of windows or impaled by swords, etc… but not before Devgn‘s shirt comes off. That comes first. Because he’s India’s answer to 1988. Your argument is invalid. Ha! Watch the trailer.

The task of keeping up with the pacing of movie production in Southeast Asia, particularly in India, can be pretty challenging. As it stands, the industry over there tends to generate close to a thousand of these films every year, including some pretty big actioners, with the quality, size and scale of stuntwork almost consistently increasing with each film, a trend that sites pretty normal for bonafide action hero Akshay Kumar who happens to be a pretty big deal for his fanbase at home.
