Directing for over a decade to date, filmmaker and prolific screenwriter Abhishek Chaubey has seen nary a critical bomb with credits like Ishiqiya and Udta Punjab to his name. He’s back at the helm now for his latest, Sonchiriya, and with an official trailer signaling an epic dacoit tale about a band of 1970’s rebels fighting to survive against rivaling gangs and the military in the desolate Chambal valley, which is also where the film was shot.
