Watch Two New Trailers For SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

We’ve got more than a month until Jon Watts’s Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters and so Sony Pictures has plenty of time and opportunity to make its case. The only minor downside is that apparently Wonder Woman is the most anticipated superhero film of the summer, which is great for Warner Bros.’s still-fledgeling DC cinematic foray, and for a film that’s already rating higher than expected among early viewers. Still, the new film now bringing actor Tom Holland to the forefront of the webslinger’s latest franchise reboot should still garner its share of summer movie success, particularly since the latest cut of the film is what’s pushing the current prospects for Tom Hardy’s R-rated Venom and other shared-Spiderverse titles. Where the Russos’ Captain America: Civil War left us off, director Jon Watts picks up for moviegoers with actor Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming for its July 7 release. The week is lit so far with events trickling from CinemaCon and such include the goings-on from Sony in their daring bid to return us to the world of eager superhero Peter Parker in the form of well fitting Tom Holland taking in the title role. “(It’s) the most surreal feeling ever. We’re going to get to see a kid whose trying to do his algebra homework, but also [trying to] make New York a safer place, so it’s a really fun balance between the two.” says Holland (via Movieweb). Sony Pictures is officially tackling properties, Silver Sable and Black Cat for a feature-film production according to THR. Christopher Yost who helped scribe the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok is now penning the script with Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal producing for a hopeful Fall start date. The news comes more than two-and-a-half years since Sony Pictures first announced the effort to bring a female-centric Spider Man title about. A number of things may have factored into why this probably didn’t take shape almost sooner, notably Sony and Marvel ultimately forging a partnership to reboot Spider-Man for a welcome entry into the MCU which now sees actor Tom Holland in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. I grew pretty fatigued in the months before and after Sony’s 2014 attempt at a summer sequel with Marvel wall crawler, Spider-Man, and before I go any further, I still am, sort of. All of the tedious energy it takes to cover comic book movies – from micro updates on images to casting announcements and confirmations is why I largely don’t cover comic book movies as much as I’d like to, and especially with all of the developments there were at the time for actor Andrew Garfield’s succession into battling the Sinister Six along with the studio’s further push for a possible female Spider-man project in the works.
