STAR TREK: BEYOND Lands U.S. Release On DVD, Blu-Ray/4K Ultra HD And Digital HD On October 4 And November 1

With a fourth Star Trek possibly in the works, director Justin Lin’s Star Trek: Beyond is now on par for a digital U.S. release on October 4, followed by a glossy 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray combo release on November 1. Sure, not everyone feels the same way about this particular franchise in the wake of the 50th anniversary celebration of sci-fi founding father Gene Roddenberry’s original series, but it still packs an edginess that makes the films fun to enjoy nonetheless, and certainly with a heartfelt send off for two of its late actors in the last few years. It was 50 years ago around this time in 1966 that Star Trek appeared on our television screens for the very first time. That’s amazing to think about, isn’t it? Especially if you’ve been there since the beginning. We can still get some of our best tastes of what the early years were like in books like A Star Trek Catalog by Gerry Turnbull, or The Star Trek Compendium by Allan Asherman, or Inside Star Trek: The Real Story by Herbert F. Solow and Robert H. Justman. Prospects are looking great for anime classic, Akira with Justin Lin currently circling the long-awaited live-action adaptation according to much fan fervor stemming from last week. Time will tell to see if and how that latest bit sticks while it’s been a few years since Lin was attached to a few projects, including an iteration of Jet Li classic, Shaolin Temple. Director Justin Lin is out and about this year ahead of the July 22 release of his newest film, Star Trek: Beyond. Following a special fan event in Los Angeles on Friday night, a new trailer was shown in the wake of a first trailer that debuted back in December, much to the chagrin of co-star Simon Pegg at the time. And indeed, given what we see now, he isn’t wholly wrong. The first trailer was more geared toward an edgy look and feel whereas the new selling point here is the source material, delving into the overall authenticity of what the trilogy has been going for thusfar. It was on Monday when some of us first caught wind of entertainment company, Barco Escape, amid the promotion of Justin Lin’s Star Trek: Beyond; To start, I think it’s unfortunate that not all theaters can accomodate such theatrical technology, but the idea of expanding and augmenting screens for a more immersive moviegoing experience will otherwise prove delightful for anyone in the vicinity of these locations. More importantly now is the relevance it bears with all things happening this week at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company is now putting out a new announcement that will accomodate a production deal between two company, thus, adding a slew of titles to rack up for the next several years for Barco’s movie arsenal. Well, so much for debuting this Friday in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The new trailer for Star Trek: Beyond, is alive and well, and VERY early having initially sprung a leak on Monday in German. Alas, clearly releasing it online officially was the only solution so now it’s up, in English and subbed accordingly by Paramount on Youtube for an all-inclusive promo dig. The film is also directed by Justin Lin and judging by the trailer, the film clearly picks up on the beats that made Lin so well known for his work behind the camera on Universal’s Fast And Furious franchise.
