Death Is No Laughing Matter In The Kazakh Revenge Thriller, JOKER

It’s not often certain titles get circulated that awaken people to the current state of action movies around the globe. Such is the case with the Republic of Kazakhstan which seems as good a place to start as any with a few films on the way from that region, including known screenwriter Talgad Zhanibekov‘s directorial debut, Joker. The film began its inception in 2010, born out of the desire to create an intellectual and spectacular film for a cult audience, with a story appearently written with a noir comic book appeal, much like what Alex Proyas and Robert Rodriguez did for The Crow and Sin City films, respectively.
