Louis Leterrier's THE FIREMAN To Set Ablaze At Fox

Louis Leterrier’s work in action cinema goes largely without saying, namely with credits like The Transporter 1 & 2, Unleashed a.k.a. Danny The Dog and The Incredible Hulk. This time he’s ready to tackle a truly explosive and deadly viral outbreak threatening to wipe out mankind in the new horror thriller, The Fireman.

Leterrier will reportedly helm the film adaptation of author Joe Hill’s forthcoming May publication following its rights’ acquisition by 20th Century Fox. Hill’s book sets in New England, New Hampshire where a pregnant nurse, infected amid an outbreak of a disease known as Dragonscale – which causes its host to spontaneously combust over time – fights to survive for the sake of her unborn baby from ruthless posses known as Cremation Squads. With nowhere left to turn, a hero emerges in the form of a fireman – armed with an iron bar and walking the line between insanity and death – who has learned to control his own infection and use it to avenge the hunted and protect the wronged.

Temple Hill’s own Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are producing this one and I have my own ideas on who would make a great lead for the title role, but what do you think of this project? Who should play The Fireman? Sound off below!
