Director Frant Gwo’s The Wandering Earth, the inaugural adaptation of the titular hit novel upon which its brand new sequel out this Chinese New Year is based, ends in such a way that you probably didn’t think it would have a successor. The inaugural film is headlined by actor Wu Jing, and is based on author Liu Cixin’s 2000 novella, with a story that sees global forces galvanize to engineer the planet and relocate it to a new solar system away from the deteriorating sun.
