Mark your calendars for November 8, because that’s when Well Go USA finally heads to households with the DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital releases of Park Hoon-jung’s hit sci-fi action horror, The Witch: Part 2 – The Other One. The film marks Park’s follow-up to 2018’s The Witch: Part 1 – The Subversion, and both films are absolute delights if you’re looking to bide your time with some amazing South Korean cinema. In this sequel to the popular Korean sci-fi action thriller THE WITCH: SUBVERSION, the story moves away from a confined secret lab and out into the real world. After a mysterious girl emerges as the sole survivor of a bloody raid on the research facility behind the top-secret Witch Program, she is rescued by a pair of civilians who soon realize the girl is both very powerful and in very grave danger. However, as the assassins tasked with locating […]
It’s been four years since writer/director Park Hoon-jung thrilled audiences with The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion, featuring Kim Da-mi in the title role with a dark, brooding tale about a young girl whose mysterious past comes back to haunt her with violent effect. Four years later, the stage is set for another offering as Park delivers in full once more with The Witch: Part 2. The Other One – intriguingly titled, despite some of the sheepish reactions it got online, and certainly lends to a sort of menacing air per the narrative. Both films are set against the backdrop of the Witch Program, a black-ops project aimed experimenting on young children at a private facility known as the Ark, with the result ending up in the child’s escape after a catastrophic event. Park’s sequel follows suit in some ways, firstly kicking things off with a foreboding prologue, which also […]
Hope you’re all caught up now because Well Go USA has officially released the official trailer for Park Hoon-jung’s The Witch: Part 2 – The Other One. The company has acquired theatrical and digital rights for the U.K., Australia and New Zealand, and for North America where the film will release in theaters and on digital beginning June 17. The long-awaited seuqel centers on another young escapee from a top-secret black site research facility similar to the one in the first film. The girl is soon rescued by a couple but are soon faced with the assassins now hunting her down. The film marks the screen debut for actress and newcomer Shin Si-ah who headlines the sequel from Park following his inaugural 2018 hit thriller starring Kim Da-mi who also reprises her role in the latest film. They are joined by Park Eun-bin, Seo Eun-soo, Jin Goo, Sung Yu-been and […]
I hope the rest of you got a chance at some point in the last four years to check out Park Hoon-jung’s sci-fi action horror, The Witch: Part 1 – The Subversion. That a sequel exists now with The Witch: Part 2 – The Other One is some of the best news ever given what’s offered in the first film, and it kind of irks me that there are still films out there subtitled as the first of what would have been potential film franchises that never came to pass. I gotta say, the 2018 Kim Da-mi starrer deserved every bit of love it got from audiences, and I’m just as excited as everyone else that this story is getting a continuation. Somewhere, a girl wakes up in a huge secret laboratory. The girl accidentally meets Kyung-hee who is trying to protect their house from the gang who harasses her. […]
Next Entertainment World (NEW) is slating a June 15 release for The Witch: Part Two – The Other One, the newest sequel from director Park Hoon-jung following 2018’s The Witch: Part 1 – The Subversion. We now know this thanks to new poster art dictating otherwise, with Park directing a cast led by newcomer and actress Cynthia (a.k.a. Shin Sia) starring. Somewhere, a girl wakes up in a huge secret laboratory. The girl accidentally meets Kyung-hee who is trying to protect their house from the gang who harasses her. When the gang bumps into the girl, they are overpowered by an unexpected power of her. In the meantime, the secret laboratory starts to find the missing girl. Who is this mysterious girl and why is she being chased? Also starring are Park Eun-bin, Seo Eun-soo, Jin Goo, Sung Yu-been, Jo Min-soo and Lee Jong-suk, with actress Kim Da-mi reprising her […]
So, I’ve been living under a rock that didn’t allow me to receive any updates about The Witch: Part 2 – The Other One which apparently has a first look making the rounds as of a few months ago, and so I’m compelled to jump on it here courtesy of HanCinema as I know a lot of us who keep up with Korean films have been looking forward to this since the pic was announced in late 2020. As for the photo above, my guess is as good as anyone’s knows what’s happening here, athough I reckon that something particularly sinister is abound following the first film. Much of what we have though can pretty much be filled in as a new synopsis spotlights the coming tale of another girl on the run from a similar underground lab like in the inaugural 2018 film, where children are tested and tormented […]
