A new collaboration project has been announced with writer and director Hideaki Anno ( Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shin Godzilla) and his Shin films at it’s core. Billed as a “Miracle Project” on it’s official website, the collaboration has been launched in tandem by Toho, Color, Tsuburaya Productions, and Toei as a dream collab of four heroes that represent Japan.
If updates from last year were any hint, classic Tsuburaya property, Ultraman, has a bright future ahead of itself. The latest serial treatment from the minds of Kamiyama Kenji and Aramaki Shinji (Eden Of The East Appleseed and Ghost In The Shell franchises), are staking their next claim in its Netflix rollout which commences April 1 from Production I.G and Sola Digital, and the official trailer is out this week.
The word is out this week via The Hollywood Reporter that popular tokusatsu property, Ultraman, is being stirred for a reboot from Jeff Gomez’s Starlight Runner Entertainment in partnership with The Licensing Group. The goal will be to reintroduce the highly acclaimed Japanese superhero property with a live-action TV series across multiple platforms including cable, streaming and SVoD, and with licensing and merchandising for U.S. and intermational markets.
This year’s announcements from Anime Expo were some of the most enlivening back in July, including a new animated Ultraman film that some folks nearly passed off as fake news at first. Undoubtedly, it’s as true as any true news there is and the official trailer is out reaffirming this as so.
