Operation Black-Ops will release on Digital and DVD July 11 from Uncork’d Entertainment. Before I go any further, it’s worth reflecting a little on Black Lotus and the acting debut of Dutch world kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven. I didn’t read the critic reviews so as to avoid compromising my intake of the Todor Chapkanov-directed action film. I was inevitably made aware, after I published my review, that some critics took umbrage to the movie and simply didn’t enjoy it. One friend told me that Verhoeven may never act again. I’ll hold off on this until later, but I’ll add that after seeing the film, I did catch one action movie blogger’s dissenting review of Verhoeven’s debut. It was surprising, to say the least, particularly since at one point several years earlier this was the same individual that gave a glowing review to Iceman 2 with Donnie Yen (this same blogger […]

After a respite chat and recovering with seemingly newly formed friendship among the group, Cassandra and the fellas convene with several other individuals as they make their way to a remote game hunting ground where Cassandra has been auspiciously invited. It also stands to be seen if she’ll get to purloin a proposed money prize of about six figures if she wins the game, so not for nothing either if she gets to earn some cash opposite her competitors. Of course, for most of the runtime […]

There’s no easy way to dive into this review for Mark Savage’s newest film, Bring Him Back Dead. I say this, if only for the fact that trying to find the highs amid so many lows makes things all the more difficult in that it stars Gary Daniels, who has long been heralded as one of the most beloved action movie icons of the last thirty-years plus, with a career that ranges between working with the likes of Jackie Chan, Tony Leung Siu-Hung, Isaac Florentine, Albert Pyun, and eventually even Sylvester Stallone to name a few. Hell, the first Daniels film I saw growing up was Riot, and it was a shoe-in for me in the 90s as someone looking for the next thing to consume in the direct-to-video market to hold me down until the next big Van Damme or Seagal spectacle. To this, it’s unfortunate that I have […]
Fans of action star Gary Daniels won’t have to wait long as Uncork’d Entertainment readies a TBD August DVD and Digital release for the new action thriller, Bring Him Back Dead, with an official trailer now online above via Deadline. Mark Savage (Hitman’s Hero, Painkiller) directs from a script by Ben Demaree – based on a story by Jeff Miller; the film marks a reunion for Demaree and Miller following Lionsgate/Grindstone’s The Gardener in which Daniels also co-stars as the villain. In the vein of Sam Peckinpah and Jim Thompson, the gritty BRING HIM BACK DEAD concerns a violent gang of criminals who are ordered, after a botched heist, to track down and eliminate the man who betrayed them and ran off with their loot. Daniels plays the “anti-hero,” while Mandylor portrays the leader of the gang and Daniels a man with mysterious motives. Also starring are Katie Keene (Rogue […]

In the film, a developer and his mistress, travelling to their weekend retreat, are taken hostage by a group of men and brought to a remote island. Here they fight for survival as the men release them into the wild and hunt them for sport. Battleground and Sixty Minutes To Midnight director Neil Mackay’s latest turn at the survival genre brings us the otherwise aptly titled Death Hunt. The story is set in the rural Midwest in 1998, where Ray (Omar Tucci), a wealthy land developer, is looking to shake things up, much to the chagrin of the reluctant farming locals. Not to be overlooked here is the fact that he’s a happily married man while on the road with his mistress, Brooke (Marlene Malcolm), who couldn’t be happier on their escapade. Thinks take a dark turn when they’re pulled over by a shady cop named Gary (Greg Johnston) and two unsavory motorists Rick (Rick Amsbury) and TJ (Terry McDonald), and taken against their will into a remote forest away from civilization. In just a matter of hours, their intentions are made vividly clear as Ray and Brooke are forced to run for their lives […]
Uncork’d Entertainment recently acquired KateLynn E.Newberry (Widow’s Point, Devil’s Junction: Handy Dandy’s Revenge) starrer Isolated, setting a summer release from director Tyler Lee Allen. Also starring Lanny Joon and David Solomon, the self-contained mystery/action thriller, similar in concept to Red Eye and Devil, tells of a woman that wakes up trapped inside of a room with no memory of who she is or how she got there. As she fights to find a way to escape, she ends up talking to a man in a room next to hers, that claims he, too, is trapped. As she questions whether or not to trust this man, she starts to remember things from her past that lead her to question not only where she might be, but also what she might be. “Newberry commands the screen in this captivating mystery” said Keith Leopard, President Uncork’d Entertainment. “We look forward to audiences discovering […]
Michael Matteo Rossi has an ample share of directing credits on shorts and features all dating back to 2007. I haven’t seen a single one up to this point so, really, if you’re unlike me in that regard, it’s up to you discern how my thoughts on his latest film, The Handler, affect you any. Clocking in at eighty-five minutes, six of which include runtime for the slow-crawling end-credits, The Handler opens with a montage of Ryker (Chris Levine) at a much happier stage of his life. It’s a nicely shot, airy intro into the film that suddenly pivots to our protagonist, wounded and running to his home with a bag of whatever (I said what I said). At this point, Ryker’s best friend and war buddy, Harris (Tim Banks) has already concealed two weapons in Ryker’s home, and it’s made clear to the viewer that Ryker is expecting some […]

Joining in are Katie Keene (Rogue Warfare), Zhuzha Akova, Ryan M. Shaw, LeJon Woods, and Chris Torem also star. Miller produces along with Cuyle Carvin and Avery Miritello, with Azhar Pasha, Miller, Savage, […]
