The Comic-Con uproar has since fizzled from last weekend’s electricity over many of the gems that fans got to view and observe. Simultaneously, with the event being one of the biggest, it’s also something I currently don’t get to attend since distance is reigning factor in that regard, and for this, I was kindly met with an opportunity by independent filmmaker Mark Anthony Gadia, a friend in the area who managed to visit the event for a few days and was willing to snap a few detailed and up-close photos of a few of the booths and their various exhibits, namely Legendary’s Warcraft scenery, costumes on full display for several WB/DC Entertainment properties, a quick pic of Marvel’s Agent Carter series star, actress Peggy Atwell, and more.
With Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures currently developing Warcraft for the big screen with Blizzard Entertainment, the production has already begun casting with announcements already arriving as of a few weeks ago. This week, we have two more names to the list, one of which includes actor Daniel Wu, who recently appeared in director RZA’s Kung Fu Cult free-for-all action adventure, The Man With The Iron Fists and the sci-fi thriller, Europa Report.
The film is based on Blizzard highly popular Guiness World Record-holding massive multiplayer online role-playing game, now going almost twenty years strong with up to 12 million subscribers to its player base. Warcraft is said to be an origin story that will focus on the first two games, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, and Warcraft: Tides Of Darkness. The initial cast as of the earlier this month includes actress Paula Patton, and actors Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, Robert Kazinsky and Toby Kebbell, with actor Clancy Brown also newly announced as of Tuesday; Brown currently co-stars with actor Jason Statham in Gary Fleder’s recently released gritty action thriller, Homefront.
Warcraft is produced by Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Alex Gartner and executive produced by Mike Morhaime and Stuart Fenegan, Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor and Paul Sams, with co-producers Chris Metzen, Rob Pardo and Nick Carpenter co-producing. Charles Leavitt is writing the film for director Duncan Jones as the film is set to begin production in Vancouver early next year.
The film will reportedly aim for a PG-13 rating.
Wu currently appears in the director Kenneth Bi’s sci-fi suspense thriller, Control, now playing in theaters across Asia, and is soon set to appear in China Lion’s forthcoming North American release of director Dante Lam’s third installation of the “Beast Stalker” trilogy, That Demon Within with co-star Nick Cheung.
