Japan now debuts a first look at the official trailer for the new action horror adaptation now set to arrive in Japan in October. There’s no official studio logline that I can find, but to sum up, the film stars Kanna Hashimoto (Gintama, From Today, It’s My Turn!!), and takes place on the morning of July 5 when a student named Asuka later finds herself caught in a cyclic and gruesome death loop. A little over six years ago, I began a little catch-up journey in the world of anime, and I did so in time to be mindful of the immense rollout of live-action manga adaptations arising in the following year: Yuichi Fukuda fans had Gintama; Kentaro Hagiwara sat in to manifest Tokyo Ghoul; Takashi Miike brought JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure: Chapter One – Diamond Is Unbreakable and Blade Of The Immortal to life; and for what it’s worth, there was Adam Wingard’s treatment of Death Note for Netflix. RUROUNI KENSHIN: THE FINAL/THE BEGINNING Unsheathes New Teaser For Manga-Based Live-Action Saga Sequel

With baited breath, fans rejoiced when they learned of the return of actor Takeru Satoh as the famed ‘Battousai’ in Keishi Otomo’s newest live-action pivot, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final/The Beginning – a two part saga that ventures into the mystery of our titular reverse-bladed samurai’s scar, and his battles with a nefarious arms trader. On Friday morning, Japan offered the world it’s biggest glimpse yet with a short teaser which you can check out above. The new Kenshin tete-a-tete will open back-to-back on July 3 and August 7, respectively.

TOKYO REVENGERS: Ken Wakui’s Time-Travel Manga Gets Live-Action Fall 2020 Stamp From Warner Bros. Japan

At this point time you can almost certainly count on Warner Bros. Japan to dive into live-action territory for various favorite manga IP. Better part of the last ten years have earned them great promise with adaptations such as Gintama, Fullmetal Alchemist, Blade Of The Immortal, Bleach and JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure, and the Rurouni Kenshin saga which rounds out the film series this summer with two more in the pipeline. Their newest push now adds to the roster with Tokyo Revengers, signaling mangaka Ken Wakui’s return to feature cinema since the adaptations of his 2005 manga, Shinjuku Swan with Sion Sono at the helm. Warner Bros. Japan Announces Two New RUROUNI KENSHIN Sequels For 2020 Release

Official announcements now pouring in from Japanese media and translatory reports are coming in with word of actor Takeru Satoh’s return to the fray in new Ruroini Kenshin sequels now slated for release next year. Actor Takeru Satoh (Inuyashiki, Ajin: Demi Human) will reprise his role for the two new films covering “Mystery of the Cross-Shaped Scar” first, and the second, “Most Terrifying Enemy – Enishi”. Actress Emi Takei will reclaim her role as Kaoru with further casting news still pending as the films edge toward a 2020 release according to the first look photo of Satoh going viral this week. The original films, released from 2012 through 2014 based on Nobuhiro Watsuki’s celebrated manga hit about a wandering ronin who poetically dispenses justice with a neutral sword, were directed by Keishi Otomo for Warner Bros.
