The new season premieres on Netflix in 2026!
I’m as surprised as anyone that Netflix series Bloodhounds is getting a second season. I didn’t expect as much considering the story arc of the first season provided enough closure, but to see another round of action and drama well on the way is a nice little pick-me-up to start the new year. Jason Kim of Officer Black Belt fame is returning to the show, back at the helm as writer and director for a cast once again led by Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi, along with the new addition of recording artist Jung Ji-hoon – a.k.a. Rain (Ninja Assassin). Studio N is producing the series along with Seven O Six, and Ghost Studio, based on Jeong Chan’s hit webtoon of the same name. Read last week’s announcement below for more, and feel free to revisit my review of the first season here. The production and cast of Bloodhounds Season […]
I’m late to the party on this but Korean news outlets have reported the production already underway as of a few weeks ago for action crime thriller, Night Heat. What’s more is that it stars none other than Woo Do-hwan, who lit up our streaming thrills in Jason Kim’s Netflix episodic action-packed drama, “Bloodhounds,” topped off with actors Jang Dong-gun and Lee Hye-ri also leading the roster. Love House helmer Kim Pan-su is directing from his own script a crime thriller spanning a 24 hour period that centers on a group of people fighting to survive in the city of Bangkok, Thailand where even during the night the heat continues. According to reports at Max Movie, Jang plays Baek, an Interpol agent dispatched to the region to take down a drug organization in the region where Taegang, played by Woo, works as a collector for the org, and also runs […]
Bloodhounds is now streaming on Netflix The fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic saw plenty of reports emerge spotlighting criminals taking advantage of people during desperate times. A little research on my end made me realize just how real this was in South Korea – something to consider with Netflix series Bloodhounds, and the 2019 webtoon that the series is inspired by. The series is directed by Jason Kim (a.k.a. Kim Joo-hwan) whose treatment sets things in motion during late 2020. I can’t quite pinpoint where this fits in the webtoon since I’ve never consumed it, and so I can only gauge the series on its own merits. To start, however, I can earnestly state that the first episode delivers a fine, brisk introduction to both sides of the series. Kim Gun-woo (Woo Do-hwan) is one of the first characters we meet. He’s humble, virtuous and soft-spoken, and typically a good […]
Well Go USA Writer/director Jason Kim’s fourth and latest film brings the ultimate battle between good and evil to the big screen with supernatural thriller, The Divine Fury. Rejoining his Midnight Runners actor Park Seo-Joon, fans are in for a dark, supernatural tale that runs on plenty of pathos to couple with otherworldly intrigue, and a touch of gore and gruesome imagery to boot. Martial arts action is merely the icing on the cake for the spectacle and drama that Kim takes aim at for The Divine Fury, specifically showcasing a mixed-martial arts trained character. Not a whole lot of MMA gets exhibited here for Seo-joon’s portrayal, but it’s plenty enough in terms of invoking fisticuffs with super-sized battles involving a few wire gags, practical effects and average-to-fair CG to amplify things. For all this, Seo-joon takes the wheel in the role of Yong-hu, an undefeated MMA champion at the […]
A dark forecast awaits Koala and Midnight Runners director Kim Joo-Hwan’s newest South Korean thriller, The Divine Fury, which is now slated for a July 31 release. The newest official poster is taking stage as well as an English-subbed version of a recent trailer just above. Kim reunites with Midnight Runners actor Park Seo-Joon who tackles the role of an MMA fighter with atheistic principles and a tragic past. When an affliction awakens through scars on his hands, questions begin to arise with hopeful answers through a chance meeting with an exorcist, sparking revelations about his own destiny and newfound abilities ahead of a forthcoming battle with an emissary of The Devil himself. Joining park are actors Ahn Sung-Ki and Woo Do-Hwan with martial arts choreography by Park Yong-Shik. Check out the trailer above and the latest domestic and international sales art from Lotte below.
