Short Action Drama YAE: BLIND SAMURAI WOMAN Wields Its Way Online

Director Aikiko Izumitani’s latest short film project eventually made its way online close to a month ago in the form of Yae: Blind Samurai Woman. The new short features actress Yuwi Kim who, along with actors Nobuaki Shimamoto and Masa Kanome, trained three months under stunt coordinator Tsuyoshi Abe for what Izumitani’s been developing as a hopeful TV series, one that’s apparently already ready to go with the right support. In 18th century Japan, a blind woman has the power to heal people in exchange for her eyesight. She hides with her father in the mountain. One day, a young samurai appears to take revenge for his father. She asks for her father’s sword to use as a blind stick and attacks, but it seems to have no effect on him. Akiko Izumitani has been making movies since about 2010, and in recent years she’s worked her way up as a production assistant working on projects such as Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, upcoming Amazon series The Terminal List and Sony Pictures action thriller, Bullet Train. All of these, among her experiences, are of course part and parcel to her true goals at the moment, which is to take on even bigger vehicles while looking for someone to represent her. In the meantime, she’s since followed up with her on-going string of independent shortfilms now with her latest effort, Yae: Blind Samurai Woman, with Yuwi Kim in the lead role.
