THE HIT LIST: July 30, 2018

My weekend was a bum one so there’s not much to add there. Apart from The Hit List, I did manage to get some pieces done for this new website of ours as tweaks and fixes are still being made behind the scenes and I have to credit Eileen for being the wind beneath my wings that are my fingers. She’ll never stop being incredible as there is no cure for it. Pity. ?

At any rate, it’s off to another week of catching up with the latest in stunt performance and indie action excellence in The Hit List, and we begin with a stellar tribute reel courtesy of Aaron Toney highlighting performances by Heidi Moneymaker, Sarah Molasky, Lee Chesley, Monica Lopez, Thekla Hutyrova, Hayley Wright, Tamiko Brownlee, Natalie Padilla, Katie O’Donavan, Mickey Facchinello, Ror Lee, Kimmy Chiang, Marissa Labog, Amy Johnston and Tara Macken in a reel attributed to Women In Action.

Following that are new stunt performance, training and demo reels featuring Michelle C. Smith, Kyle Murillo, Jessica Barfoot, Craig Canning, Katie Kramer, Gabriel Ruan, Sarah Laidler, Spidey Turner, Margaryta Soldatova, Rufio Luey, Lacey Robinson, Cameron Early, and reels by actress and martial artist Sarah Chang and that of her personal unit, Sachang Action Design Team!

There’s only one item to push this week in promotional gems and it hails from Adem Suljic who made proper waves last year with the award-winning action short, Creatures Of The Night. He’s been active on Vimeo nowadays with available on-demand shortfilms of his own, one including dark thriller Secrets We Keep, centered on a deliveryman who risks it all to avenge his sister’s dishonor against a gang of Chinatown thugs. Check out the trailer and poster below!

Time to throw down this week with a playlist full of fresh indie fight and shortfilm fare beginning with John Nania opposite Vincent Buillon, an underground elevator bout with Gabriella Corvina and Eddie Valentino going toe-to-toe, Matt Healey and Anthony Hoang a few crossing blows of their own for David Lavallee Jr., and Robert Bennett and Corbett McAllister attributing a fan fight themed accordingly to the release of this summer’s biggest hit, Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

Following that is an entry from Jason Elwood Hanna and Nate Andrade getting Hurt to the grisled, sobering vocal stylings of Johnny Cash, Younes Boutinane and Maxime Ecoiffier trading bullets and fisticuffs for filmmaker Dom Fred, Sean Kohnke and Marshall Bingham fighting on both ends of enemy territory in Underground, Amy Sturdivant back at the helm for fight-loaded Roshambo with Joseph Oreste, Nathan People and Armand Rabanal, Kelly Russo and Xenia LeBlanc at the center of some truly seedy girltalk in Nicholas Acosta’s explosive #MyRodeReel entry, ManEaters, Art School Dropouts’ 8-Bit Kung Fu shenanigans with Joey Min, and a Rangers’ quarrel between Pink and Red with Caitlin Hutson and Omar Zaki.

Rounding it all out in typical, emotive and stunning fashion is a brand new action short boding as equal in poetry with its motion and set pieces as the ones before. This brings us to Film Combat Syndicate favorite Bryan Sloyer‘s latest, Fingerpaint, a contination of a spiritual, dramatic, thrilling and inspirational theme culminating with a sporadic universe of living characters and afterlife guardians and messengers dressed in White. Jewels likes this are exactly what percolate my interest in independent action cinema and, equally, why I hope so much to see Sloyer grow and prosper in his endeavors for all of the last five years I’ve been following him.

Enjoy the hits!
