THE HIT LIST: December 9, 2019
With 2019 winding down, there’s only one more Hit List to go after this, and I am thoroughly impressed to see such amazing work going into the holidays.
With 2019 winding down, there’s only one more Hit List to go after this, and I am thoroughly impressed to see such amazing work going into the holidays.
My weekend was a bum one so there’s not much to add there. Apart from The Hit List, I did manage to get some pieces done for this new website of ours as tweaks and fixes are still being made behind the scenes and I have to credit Eileen for being the wind beneath my wings that are my fingers. She’ll never stop being incredible as there is no cure for it. Pity. ?
Starring are Terrell Southwind Bullock and Vanessa Bontea shepherding the villain end of things opposite Raymond Blong with Soria presenting the fight action with Luis Orlando Candelario. Samuel is rejoined by fellow film cohort Robert Jefferson in penning the narrative with Eng Andy, Alan Goldberg, Oso Tayari Casel and Dr. Mark Wiley serving as executive producers.
Copper Jack Stone purposefully orchestrates a bank robbery in order to be thrown into prison with the notorious Russian kingpin, Balam. Balam is more than just a mob criminal, he’s a very cunning and dangerous lord who controls the police force from behind bars. Balam lives in prison as a cover for his real power, which is King of the city. His cell is a lavish private room built specifically for him, inaccessible to most in the depths of the prison structure. Even the warden fears venturing into his area of the prison. However, even surrounded by his loyal henchmen and guards in his sectioned off fortress, Balam doesn’t know Jack is coming for him to avenge his family, whom Balam murdered in cold blood. Balam is tough…but Jack is tougher.
Action actor and three-year stunt professional Vic Winters Junco has a pretty good foothold of just how strong stuntwoman and actress Amy Sturdivant is. He’s the guy in the aforementioned hat getting tackled at the top of their latest test fight sketch courtesy of independent filmmaker, fellow stuntman and choreographer Bryan Sloyer, who has been pretty steady this year so far with a good handful of test fights on his YouTube channel.
The action is great eye candy as always, but you might be wondering just why it is the video has the title it has. And yes, it does pertain to Junco‘s hat, as it was a point of laughter for everyone on the scene, and you may easily miss the hilarity of it if you think too long about it. Sloyer pointed it out to me this afternoon, and even as I finished off this draft, it still drew a mild chuckle just thinking about it.
I say no more, lest I give it away. So check it out below, and if you love action as much as Sloyer does, be kind. Subscribe.
Lance K. Jemison and Amy Sturdivant trade fists and feet, directed by Bryan Sloyer
Upon sharing his previous independent screenfighting endeavors with stuntwoman and actress Michelle Martins for LBP Stunts indie action lensman Emmanuel Manzanares back in February, it was then during my discussions with fellow stuntman Bryan Sloyer that he briefly mentioned taking interest in dabbling behind the camera for his own experimentation in the field of action direction. On Monday this week, netizens and action fans alike got a small glimpse of those newfound, early efforts in a brand new one-minute test fight featuring performances by Lance K. Jemison and Amy Sturdivant.
I reached out to both performers and was fortunate to get in touch with Sturdivant, a Seattle native now living in Los Angeles. who has been training in stunts for a year with five months of career work also under her belt. “It’s definitely a challenge unlike anything I’ve done.” she says. “I feel like there will always be something new to learn as a performer and I enjoy being a student in that aspect.”.
Having acclimated herself with various stunt coordinators and other professionals, she expressed her appreciation for each individual vision and style that coordinators apply to their craft, as mutually, and significantly beneficial to her own growth as an up-and-comer in her field; Such was the case for her latest collaboration with Sloyer (pictured left) for whom she shared more words of praise. “He really takes the time to look at his performers and understand their strengths and weaknesses and push us beyond our comfort zones just before the point of us breaking so he gets everything he can out of us and we grow beyond our own expectations.” she says. “If we are ever reaching a plateau then he has a way of explaining techniques that will draw it out of us. With that, I really enjoy working with him!”.
Sloyer has some more amazing collaborations coming very soon, so while you’re here, you may want to subscribe to his channel. And by all means, stay tuned to Film Combat Syndicate for more news and information, as well as exciting new videos.
