THE HIT LIST: November 5, 2018

I’m actually kind of glad November is here as it actually feels like things might slow down a bit with the holidays near. Plus, I’m looking toward this Friday or Saturday for some fun stuff as well so, fingers crossed.

As for all these below, ’tis another week for The Hit List and we begin with another nifty round of demo reels from some of today’s top stunt professionals and up-and-comers beginning with the venerable Angela Meryl, and reels by Tyler Street, Milena Brewster, Chris Reid, Cameron Early, Jeff Budner, Anna Khrouchtcheva, Jeff Karr, Shae Gutrick, Daniel Elman and the cool cats over at Czech Action Crew.

Moving forward with trailer and promo content, we have pitches to share for Art School Dropout’s latest serial progress on a second season of My Asian Auntie, followed by Artemis Motion Pictures‘ latest short film release, Battlers, and Sangai Films’ Khangsunaha, followed by Malik Hammad’s Mission: Impossible-inspired Honor, and a trailer for Dom Fred’s upcoming Urban Action Showcase premiere of The Legend. Lastly is a teaser for a project I’ve championed time and again, starring an actress I absolutely loved watching, and from a director I have nothing but the utmost support for as it pertains to Prima Lux’s Night Shift which has already earned the favor of a few local and international festivals, including here in New York City. The official shortfilm is releasing on Thursday, November 8.

Beneath that is a nod to our own Nicholas Ortiz who will also be on hand at the Urban Action Showcase and Expo to lend a theatrical crowd to a few of his own entries, Mr. Shifty and Black Betty!

Onward and forward we go with Geoffrey Boggs and Anthony Scanish getting in some fight time for Josh Videna behind the lens. Next up, we have Christine Trinh laying waste to Daniel Lavigne and Jake Lewis in a new practice fight vid by DL McDonald, followed by Parisian stunt troupe, Partners In Stunt as the chase commences for Halloween…? featuring Audrey Golay, Audrey Meschi and Flore Magnier, and some more Batman pre-viz action by Vlad Rimburg with Brendon Huor and Jimmy Chhiu.

Andreas Lium Høvik weighs in from Action Kast with a trio of Star Wars fan films titled Destiny leading up to this year’s Lightsaber Choreography Competition, as does Jeffim Sheroky’s Cookies & Cream and Michael Yadvish’s Omega, which also stars Dan Sowden and Jenna Harold. Following that is director David Griffin signaling “the beginning of a dark tale” in short film thriller, Crossed, along with the return of Jordan Cann with a re-upload of award-winning action horror short, Vampire’s Rage.

Last and far from least is the long-awaited action comedy skit, Fist Of The East, from the team over at Youngmasters with Lorenz and Felix Hideyoshi opposite Raffael Armbruster and Alessandro Lo Cacciato in a daunting comedy packed with high-jinx and humor, aa well as some of the continued best in martial arts action cinema. This one has been a few years in waiting as they were all involved in a live stage show performance in Dresden at the time, and it’s a fun bit of work from a duo of creatives who never let genre fans down.

Enjoy the hits!
