THE HIT LIST: October 29, 2018
As you’re reading this, it’s a Saturday evening and all I can do is ponder the updates to come what with other drafts still pending in my repetoire at the moment.
In the meantime, kicking off this week’s installment of The Hit List are the usual rounds of stunt and demo reels and we begin with a sampler from Phillip Ray Tommy, followed by reels from Jonathan Vellner, Glenn Edwards, François Girard, Britannia Fader, Adam Collins, Jade Zafra, Martin Staana and LK Stunt Fight Team, and actor Robert Dill whose own reel peaks with high aptitude for his growing craft in drama, comedy, stunts and screenfighting.
In the realm of trailers we were firstly contacted by Lima Films’ Gerard Lima with a few trailers from his selection. There’s one that specifically caught my eye and its for the new military action drama, Gone, starring Jimmy Manfredy and host to a series of events that ensue as a wife receives a letter sent by her husband-then killed in action. The project was an Urban Action Showcase & Expo submission last year preceding Lima’s current UASE efforts which will center on another project, while Gone still awaits an online release should one be forthcoming.
Following that are trailers for the November release of the now three year-awaited Young Masters action comedy, Fist Of The East, burgeoning filmmaker Dom Fred’s power-packed offering with rising star Chintya Candranaya in Justice, and Michael Yadvish’s 2018 Lightsaber Choreography Competition entry, Omega, currently awaiting judgement day, November 3.
Time to get the action going firstly with performers Daniel Lavigne and Jake Lewis for DL MacDonald’s own practice vid followed by some zombie kills and thrills over at Chazz Menendez’s channel featueing Ikeda Ai, Suzuki Kimmy and Nishimura Koji. Geo Corvera is a name The Hit List hasn’t heard from in awhile and he makes his return to the fray with a pair of videos of his own with Ilyana Eberhardt opposite Bri Marie Korin and Lianna Eastman, and with Victoria Lee opposite Malachi Mutakabbir, Angela Lynn and Julia Elizabeth.
Maverick Tokusatsu director Bueno taps into The Hit List once more with Yurino performing an action sampler for Garage Pro TV, while Vlad Rimburg takes us back into the pre-viz trenches for “Batman: The Telltale Series” with two videos host to performances by Micah Karns, Gui DaSilva, Jimmy Chhiu, Katie O’Donovan and Shad Gaspard. Sabreena Candreeva and A.J. Gagliardi weigh in with some sword of action of their own (hat tip to the lovely Amanda Cass), helmed by Marques Zaror for one of two fight vids this week – the second titled Slayers featuring Mark Hudson, David Van Tassell and Rachel Hoffpauir, and Sam KJ gets his place in Hit List history once again with his long-awaited action horror, Oni, starring Anthony Ma in a thrilling, chilling role with action sequences by Michael Lehr.
Mark Alex Vogt treads the epic battlefield of Star Wars film fandom with Odyssey and Patrick Epino and Stephen Dypianco tap into the ceremony of Fil-Am History Month with a free online viewing of their crowdfunded hat tip to Asian cinema villany, Awesome Asian Bad Guys – which ends its run on Wednesday, 10/31, so definitely catch it here if you can!
Last and far from least with noted credit as a well-received Urban Action Showcase fave in 2017, Angel Vazquez is caught between the long arm of the law, his past and the girl of his dreams in the newly-released martial arts comedy short, Atrápame.
The Hit List packs on weekly so be sure not to miss last week’s entries, and also to subscribe to the creators’ channels and SHARE The Hit List with friends.
