THE SIEGE AT THORN HIGH Gets A Propulsive Trailer For Joko Anwar’s New Action Flick
Marking the first in a milestone for director Joko Anwar, the first official trailer is here for new action thriller, The Siege At Thorn High. Joined by Amazon MGM Studios, Anwar produced the flick through his Come And See Pictures label which launched the sequel to his 2017 supernatural thriller, Satan Slaves, and has been growing ever since.
Set in the tumultuous near-future of Indonesia in 2027, The Siege at Thorn High portrays how Indonesian society teeters on the edge of anarchy, with chaos ignited by discrimination and racial hate. Enter Edwin, a young substitute teacher at a school for juvenile delinquents, whose own inner demons complicate his battle for survival once the school turns into a battleground.
A press conference held by the cast and crew launched on Thursday via Instagram livestream where the official trailer was shown. I was as blind as anyone who first learned about the movie when Deadline first broke the news on the pic and with the trailer here, it’s tons more action-packed than I imagined. This is Timo-level craziness and certainly speaks to the niche some, so if you’re a fan of indie action with certain expectations, this trailer gives you some hella guarantees.
The Siege At Thorn High stars Morgan Oey (Srimulat: Hidup Memang Komedi), Omara Esteghlal (Ali Topan) and Hana Malasan (Susuk), along with Fatih Unru, Satine Zaneta, Dewa Dayana, Florian Rutters, Faris Fadjar Munggaran, Sandy Pradana, and Farandika. The film is set for an Indonesian theatrical release on April 17.
