TIFF 2015: Walter Hill To Direct Transgender-Led Assassin Flick, TOMBOY, Weaver And Pinto In Talks To Star

This year’s events at the Toronto International Film Festival are surely paving the way for an emergence of socially diverse films. One such title now making the rounds comes by way of The Solution Entertainment group who are shopping their latest assassin flick, Tomboy, to buyers.

Veteran action movie helmer Walter Hill is attached to direct the film from his own script co-written with Denis Hamill which focuses on a top hitman who sets out for revenge when he is subsequently betrayed and captured by “The Doctor” who subsequently gives him a sex change. THR reports that acclaimed actress Sigourney Weaver is in talks for the role of “The Doctor” with Slumdog Millionaire and Immortals co-star, award-winning actress Freida Pinto up for the role of Johnnie, the nurse who helps our hero-turned-heroine.

The lead role is currently up for grabs now that actress Andrea Riseborough, once in the running is now out due to scheduling.

Hill, best known for a career full of action classics like The Warriors, Red Heat, prison boxing drama Undisputed and both 48 Hours films, last directed the 2012 odd-couple crime thriller, Bullet To The Head with Sylvester Stallone and Sung Kang. Weaver is currently expected to reappear in a few franchise titles, including James Cameron’s on-going slate of Avatar movies and an upcoming Alien follow-up reuniting with Chappie helmer Neill Blomkamp.
