TIMUR Teaser Reveals Iko Uwais’ Explosive New Hostage Action Thriller
This week is a good week to be an Iko Uwais fan, as the first teaser for the hotly-anticipated Timur is finally here. Starring the actor who won our hearts and fandom fifteen years ago with an all-you-can-eat buffet of martial arts action and crime hits like Merantau, Headshot and The Raid films to name a few, the new teaser below also gives us our first real look at Uwais’s filmmaking chops as the film marks his freshman effort as a director.
It’s certainly not bad looking either, and with a plot based on a real-life hostage crisis in 1996. There’s a reverent tone here as well that couples aptly with the requisite excitement brought on by the alluring set pieces and moments teasing Uwais’s signature style of action and fight choreography. This, after weeks of behind-the-scenes reels does whet the appetite plenty, and from a burgeoning production label in Uwais that’s already looking more and more promising year-to-date since announcing its slate in January.
A soldier named Timur leads a rescue team on a dangerous mission to free researchers kidnapped in the jungle. Trapped in a fraught area, they must face extreme terrain, time pressure, and unexpected dangers.
Timur opens in Indonesia on December 18. Check out the teaser:
