HE IS BACK: Bruceploitation Makes A Contemporary Comeback For Abb Li’s Starring Debut Next Year

He’s gained popularity around the interwebs for several years as the rarity of maturing as a Bruce Lee lookalike. As it now stands and with a press release in our wake, famed martial artist Abbas Alizada (a.k.a. Abb Li) is being graced with a chance at film stardom with Hollywood production, He Is Back, from Showtime Sinema and SBM Pvt Ltd in association with Ninjoor Pictures.
Li, based in Kabul, will star in he is back, centered on a poor young man from Afghanistan who has devoted his life to helping his village, and soon realizes a special power within him that will help him fight an encroaching evil that threatens not just his home, but also the world. Chitah Yajnesh Shetty (Krishna, Sainik) will make his directorial debut with Suresh Sharma and Suresh Babu Malge serving as producers, Amarjit Shetty co-directing and Hong Kong-based William Bond exec producing.
The film’s unveiling ceremony took place recently at Armani Burj Khalifa, introducing Alizada and actress Alina Lliumzhinova. Present at the ceremony was Her Royal Excellencey of Thailand Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura, Ex-President of Kalmakiya (Russian Federation) Mr. Kirsan, Prince Firoz, member of Royal Institute of British Architects from England, Thomas Fung, Chairman of City Credit Capital (UK) ltd UK, Edmond Nercez from Belgium and Edmond Avakian CEO Avakian Group of Companies GENEVA.
Also on hand for the ceremony were film producer Rockline Venkatesh (Villain, Bajrangi Bhaijaan), along with Hollywood cinematographer Ross Clarkson (Undisputed III, Ninja II: Shadow of a Tear), and action director Keecha Kempkadee (Iddaramayilatho, Baaghi) as well as the film’s partner Mr. Xu from China among other dignitaries.
Cameras are expected to roll on January 28 with locations in Kosovo, Cambodia, Thailand, Russia, and North America. (City On Fire)
