ABDUCTION: Catch The New Scott Adkins/Andy On Rematch In The Official U.S. Trailer From Shout! Factory
If a double dose of explosive martial arts screen action is what you’re looking for this summer, exec producer Roger Corman and director Ernie Barbarash (Assassination Games) are here to heed the call to fan service forthwith in upcoming thriller, Abduction. Shout! Factory officially launching its U.S. trailer as of Friday ahead of a theatrical and digital release beginning June 7, reuniting action star front runners Scott Adkins (Boyka: Undisputed 4) and Andy On (Once Upon A Time In Shanghai).
Quinn (Scott Adkins), a member of a SWAT unit, steps out of a park fountain in an Asian city with no recollection of who he is or where he came from. As he pieces together clues from his past, he vaguely recalls his young daughter, who has been kidnapped. Meanwhile, Connor (Andy On), a former military operative turned gangster-for-hire, discovers that his wife has also disappeared mysteriously in the middle of the night. These two men, with little in common, realize they must work together to find their loved ones and thwart their mysterious abductors.
A series of extraordinary events and dangerous encounters ensue as Quinn and Connor set out on their trek. They discover that aliens live among us, preying on humankind and that the abductions are part of a centuries-long plot. With the help of a local psychiatrist and an eccentric scientist, the two men resolve to take on this merciless, unknown force bent on destroying the human race.
Red Sea Media first launched a general trailer back in March. I initially didn’t expect things to take as much of a supernatural turn as they did but it was certainly a great excuse to finally get Adkins and On back together on a decent feature after Black Mask 2: City Of Masks, which has to be one of the most deplorable Tsui Hark ventures ever made, and it would’ve been tragic to leave off as is, especially considering how rare it is for even rarer for two-handers like this to convene on a project like this (those who remember Andrzej Bartkowiak’s collapsed Dark Deal pre-production roughly a decade ago know the feels).
Mike McLean penned the script joining Adkins and On with Vietnamese actress Troung Ngoc Anh, and actor Daniel Whyte with actress Lily Ji, and actors Aki Aleong, Jai Day, Andrew Ng and Brahim Chab also starring.
Abduction opens in select theaters and on Digital HD begining June 7 ahead of its Blu-Ray release in July from Shout! Factory.
