Actor Henry Cavill got a serious career boost when he landed last year’s Man Of Steel prior to Warner Bros going all-in on developing its cinematic universe with a major announcement this season. Aside from this though, the actor still has a career with which bring many facets to consider, and nowadays, Cavill is looking to up the ante from actor to producer under his own banner. As such, word now tells of a new action thriller now on the horizon in the form of Stratton, which has been in the works for a while before landing at Promethean with producers Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman of Amber Entertainment Ltd. pitching.
Cavill himself will be starring in the title role, based on the story of SBS commando and Northern-Ireland intelligence operative John Stratton, whose fictitious exploits around the world are based on the eight-part book series beginning in 2003 from author and former miltary serviceman pen named Duncan Falconer. The film, which will get a presentation this month at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California, will reportedly be set in Rome and parts of Southern Italy, and London with filming set to begin next Spring with international sales agent GFM films also financing.
The film seems like an impressive next phase for Cavill amidst all superhero movie fanfare, and presents be an awesome opportunity to portray more grounded action heroes for a change following Guy Ritchie’s August 17, 2015 flick,
The Man From U.N.C.L. E.. Then again, if blue and red suits you better,
then 2016 and the years thereafter will certainly be your cup of tea.
Stay tuned for more info!
