Anime Roundtable: HI SCORE GIRL, BAKI, A.I.C.O. -INCARNATION-, And Other Choice Shows From The Past Year

It’s been a really slow year for me in the realm of anime, though I did manage to wrap up a few shows this year. Point in fact, I managed to finally live out the adventure that was Yu Yu Hakusho that I’ve missed out on from my cartoon watching heydays.

Alas, I long for a live-action treatment of some kind for that show. Yeah, it’s an unpopular opinion but I’m sitting it right next to my hopes for Kill La Kill all the same as it was one of my most favorite anime shows back in 2016. Fast forward anyhoo, while 2018 left little room to relax, I did squeeze in some time for myself, though I felt compelled to just put something together bearing anime in mind for the coming year.

Thus, I’ve gathered a small handful of people, including writers from ScreenAnarchy, FilmSmash and Henshin Justice Unlimited to galvanize a little and reflect on some of their favorite shows of the past year to include along with some of my own thoughts. Some of these are on Netflix and others are on Crunchyroll or wherever you stream your anime or live-action/puppet spectacle.

Granted this isn’t a huge list (which I would have loved nonetheless) but with such amazing anime that remains forthcoming like a second season of One Punch Man, Netflix’s forthcoming releases of Saint Seiya, the classic Evangelion series and the latest animated Ultraman movie, I felt keen on jumping in with a small rewind to help consumers whet the appetite. And I’m happy to have had some company on this too.
