APOCALYPSE LOVE Dares To Save The World, Dead Or Alive In The Official Trailer!
I’ve seen different kinds of films that challenged me as a critic. Chris Huang was certainly one, and now I can add writer/director Vera VanGuard to the list of auteurs making headway via cinematic puppetry as the festivals make note of her latest feature, Apocalypse Love.
Just a necromantic love story set in a zombie/alien apocalypse.
Tom is a 19-year-old emo boy prone to writing song lyrics in graveyards. A year ago, he lost his girlfriend, BB, to a tragic accident on prom night. Blamed for her death and shunned by all, he suffers in his loneliness.
Then… Space Aliens invade the Earth and start turning all the dead into their army of zombie killers. Naturally, Tom is not about to let them turn his love into a zombie. His solution? Dig her up and carry her with him so he won’t die alone. His heartbroken (and scorned) ex-girlfriend suggests she can bring back BB with magic.
Follow his wild adventures to bring BB back to life while dodging legions of zombies and alien death rays.
It wasn’t long before the rabbit hole I was in took me to a short she did years ago where she battles a stuffed Easter bunny. T’was an epic battle indeed, and all the more indicative of VanGuard’s precocious drive as a filmmaker thinking outside the box.
Apocalypse Love is VanGuard’s feature debut and there’s more info available on the website on the film’s movement, in addition to the official trailer which I’m sharing just beneath. I’ll be screening this myself as well, so check our home page for a review in the coming days…
Cool song choice too!
