Are 'MK Legacy's Darren Shahlavi And Michelle Lee Boarding Zaror's ZAMBO DENDE?
Superhero franchises and their respective adaptations aren’t merely limited to the popular brands introduced by companies like Marvel and DC. They exist internationally with characters many of us can’t discover for ourselves fast enough, so it comes with good graces that comic book creator Nicholas Rodriguez’s own property, 14th century superhero Zambo Dende could forsee a live-action movie with the help of Disney according to previous reports.
Aside from this, we can pretty much do away with any speculation about Colombian filmmaker Riccardo Gabrielli R‘s intentions to properly blow our minds, speficially hinting at Chilean action star Marko Zaror as his leading man of choice. Best known for executing his fully-loaded arsenal of high-caliber martial arts screenfighting prowess in films like Kiltro, Undisputed 3: Redemption and the latest Fall 2014 festival favorite, Redeemer, it doesn’t appear that anyone would have a problem with this. I don’t.
So, yes. Good times it seems, while looking forward to future prospects and official announcements about what’s happening with this movie. Alas, more names are starting to pile up in lieu of the film’s increasing existence, and if the latest tweet from the official Zambo Dende account is any indication, Gabrielli R‘s new movie is shaping up quite nicely for the fans!
@TaitimusMaximus @Shahlavi @___MichelleLee @markozaror welcome to colombia. #Zambodende

Actor and stuntman Tait Fletcher is just coming off small roles in hits like The Equalizer and the upcoming Leitch/Stahelski action thriller, John Wick (he also did a cool skit earlier this year with independent filmmaker Freddie Wong, which you can check out right here). Meanwhile, the other two names in the tweet, actor Darren Shahlavi and actress Michelle Lee, are particularly worth noting if you’re familiar with their respective roles in both seasons of Kevin Tancharoen’s hit series, Mortal Kombat Legacy, and Guillaume Lubrano’s French-produced cult sci-fi series, Metal Hurlant Chronicles as of late; Shahlavi is posied to appear opposite lead action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme in Pound Of Flesh next year, while comic book fans can catch Lee‘s stellar performance in Blood And Blood helmer Ben Ramsey’s pending live-action superhero short, Black Salt.
As usual, further details are needed to divulge more about their potential involvement in the film. But for what it’s worth, things appesr to be progressing, and with the uptick in popularity of live-action development for comic book properties on an international level, filmgoers may soon see things pick up a little more, both in style and in substance. Moreover, on top of Gabrielli R‘s handy resume of shorts, features and TV work, his 2012 flick, La Lectora, was reportedly a hit at home prior to directing his latest thriller, 5, with actress Carolina Guerrera.
Anyway, who’s ready to see Marko Zaror kick ass and free slaves as Zambo Dende? I know I am!
More to come!
