Alexander Nevsky (Black Rose) will star in Assault On Rio Bravo, a new Western thriller from Joe Cornet (A Prayer for the Damned).
Cornet will direct from a script by Craig Hamann (Boogie Boy, Showdown In Manila). Casting is currently underway in Los Angeles while production works to mitigate the city’s current situation during the pandemic.
The official logline reads as follows: Texas, 1875 – A bloodthirsty gang of outlaws is on the eve of attacking a border town to free their leader from prison. They’re an army of ruthless killers known as the most dangerous gang in the West. Their plan is to burn the entire town to the ground with everyone who in it. But a handle of warriors led by a mysterious foreigner will stand in their way…
Nevsky will produce the film through his Hollywood Storm production banner. Eric Brenner (Crazy Heart) of ETA Films will exec produce. Composer Sean Murray (Deep Blue Sea 2) will co-produce, as well as score the film.
Cornet’s previous westerns include Incident At Guilt Ridge and A Prayer For The Damned. His most recent upcoming feature, The Promise, sees him directing and producing, as well as starring opposite Academy Award nominee Don Murray.
Nevsky’s espionage thriller, Red Prophecies, was acquired by ITN Distribution last Fall and presently awaits a March 5 release.
