I first bought a copy of Sammo Hung’s 1979 hit film, Knockabout, a little less than twenty years ago via 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment on DVD. It was during a time when I could do nothing but spend all my hard earnings on DVDs and certainly Fox’s line-up of Hong Kong classics had piqued my interest. Nowadays Arrow Video is carrying the torch for the film’s North American distribution per its acquisition and matriculation of Hong Kong niche releases and they’re soon welcoming it on a newly restored 2K Blu-Ray format with tons of special features, including on their exclusive streamer, Arrow Player beginning March 28. JK Rock and Shadow Kids helmer Shunji Muguruma is currently on the move as of late last year with the release of his newest action drama, Lone Wolf (regionally titled The Last Stuntman). I’ve only come across this one late Thursday afternoon as I found myself in another rabbit hole and very little info about this project available in English, which of course compelled me to do lots of Googling, Google Translating, and more Googling, etc. The film is led by Shota Minami of Ultra Galaxy Legend and Ultraman Zero Gaiden fame, and stunt professional Masashi Takahashi who produces next to Muguruma. Isolation and Masquerade helmer Shane Dax Taylor is back with the new hostage thriller, The Best Man. Saban Films is out and about on Thursday with an official trailer and a theatrical, digital, and VOD release date set for April 21. Luke Wilson (3:10 to Yuma) and Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables) star in this pulse-pounding, action-packed thriller. Coming To Netflix In March: FURIES, HIGH & LOW: THE WORST X

I’m plenty of hours late for at least one of these announcements but so far the best news for action fans adherent to Netflix has arrived as of Tuesday with the upcoming additions of Vietnamese action prequel Furies, and Japanese beat ’em up saga continuation High & Low: The Worst X. Of course there’s more in the streamer’s catalog but these are most certainly my picks. Coming March 23, Furies returns actress Veronica Ngo (Furie) to the action saga in prequel form as director, as well as co-starring opposite Dong Anh Quynh. The 1990-set story sees three vigilantes who find themselves questioning their purpose while on a campaign to take down a sinister crime syndicate in Saigon. If you’re a fan of independent filmmaker Brian Karl Rosenthal and you’re looking forward to more of his stuff since his latest derivative gorefest in Marvel Zombies vs. Army Of Darkness, you’re more than welcome to check out what he’s been up to as of late with the new slasher short, POV. Here’s a quick logline: A suburban couple attempt to survive a home invasion on the most dangerous night of the year. The project is ¾ complete and Rosenthal is nearing the home stretch with just a few more days left to go for his latest Indiegogo campaign to support just a couple more nights of shooting and post-production. He’s also accompanied supporters with an in-progress teaser and BTS photos and film stills at the Indiegogo to lend some more insight.

MARTIN Trailer Promises All The Bang, Boom And Brawn For Your Buck!

Indian cinema is great. How great? Welp, if you’re an action fan and have some knowledge of Indian film, you know that directors weighing in on the genre typically aim pretty damn high at times, and director A.P. Arjun is here to show he’s ready to aim even higher, going big with his fifth directorial gig, Martin, and with hulking heavyweight leading man Dhruva Sarja leading the charge for Kannada audiences. Rounding out the cast are Vaibhavi Shandilya, Anveshi Jain, Chikkanna, Malavika Avinash, Achyuth Kumar, Nikitin Dheer, Nawab Shah, and Rohit Pathak, and to be very clear, I don’t know what this movie is about. That’s not to say that this teaser trailer isn’t selling what it means to. At close to 60 million views since its release yesterday as of this post, it’s safe to say that it is!… Check it out!

Saban Films’ ASSASSIN Trades Bodies For Retribution In The Official Trailer

Jesse Atlas’ directorial debut now sees Saban Films on par with Assassin, toplined by Andy Allo, Nomzamo Mbatha, Mustafa Shakir, Dominic Purcell, and Bruce Willis in one of his latest career-exiting screen appearances. Atlas directs from a script he wrote with Aaron Wolfe with Saban releasing the pic in theaters, on demand and on digital beginning March 31. Bruce Willis (Glass) and Nomzamo Mbatha (Coming 2 America) star in this action-packed sci-fi thrill ride.
