2026 is off to a wonky start if ever. But, that doesn’t mean the year is completely hopeless, and if you’re a moviegoer and love Hong Kong action, you can now guarantee yourselves a few glimmers from directing legend John Woo with the re-releases of several of his heyday classics, including Hard Boiled which opens in select theaters for a limited run on January 25, 26 and 28. The 4K theatrical re-release marks a continuance for Shout! Studios who is partnering with GKids on the campaign; Shout! sparked renewed fandom last year with its acquisition of a number of Hong Kong titles, including the entire Golden Princess library which was home to a number of titles from Woo and other directors. Woo’s Hard Boiled stars Chow Yun-Fat and Tony Leung in the story of a vengeful Hong Kong cop taking aim at a ruthless arms dealer with the help of […]
The film stars Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi and Elle Fanning.
Story Kitchen is developing the project.
Coming to Mongolian cinemas on New Year’s Day!…
Indian film coverage is always a mystery. Any details apart from the usual boilerplate language are scant which is always admittedly frustrating, and which I reckon is what these guys love about their field. Things are constantly kept under a tight lid, and they know it’ll only make people more curious about what’s coming. And, agreeably, I’m curious about TikiTaka. The new action adventure is directed by Rohit VS with a cast led by Asif Ali. The film was announced in 2024 and production has been teasing folks for a while now with a slow trickle of posters in the last several months. I’ve gathered a slideshow of these which you can view below, including the latest one which illustrates a character with a back tattoo and claws fresh from a Marvel superhero fave. Again, I don’t know what any of this means, so spool through these a bit and […]

Kenichiro Akimoto’s animated feature debut, All You Need Is Kill, is coming to theaters January 16. GKids is out with the official trailer this week as well, marking the latest cinematic iteration of the classic light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Set in the year 20XX, ALL YOU NEED IS KILL follows the story of Rita, a resourceful but isolated young woman volunteering to help rebuild Japan after the mysterious appearance of a massive alien flower known as “Darol.” When Darol unexpectedly erupts in a deadly event, unleashing monstrous creatures that decimate the population, Rita is caught in the destruction—and killed. But then she wakes up again. And again. Caught in an endless time loop, Rita must navigate the trauma and repetition of death until she crosses paths with Keiji, a shy young man trapped in the same cycle. Together, they fight to break free from the loop and find meaning […]
As if you needed a reason to go back to the movies and see a John Woo classic on the big screen… Tickets are on sale for a spell of limited theatrical 4K re-releases for three of the director’s greatest hits: Hard Boiled, A Better Tomorrow, and The Killer. Shout! Studios is ramping up the campaign via their Hong Kong Cinema Classics initiative, in association with GKids Films with a listing of up to 800 theater locations across the U.S., as revealed by Collider‘s Jeff Ewing on Wednesday. The films, collectively featuring screen legends Chow Yun-Fat, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Ti Lung, Leslie Cheung, and Danny Lee in their respective credits, got limited releases earlier this year as Shout! prepped its home release campaign on digital and physical mediums. Of course, limited runs means a very short window for folks who didn’t get to enjoy these films in a theatrical setting, […]
I watch a lot of trailers. I need to, as someone who watches and reviews a lot of movies, and that’s aside from the general rule that a film’s trailer will determine how it will sell to its preferred audience, and Tom Botchii’s Relentless is no exception. Of course, I had to double check and so this will be the second time Botchii’s name gets mentioned as well since popping onto my radar in 2018 with serial killer thriller, Artik. The trailer for Relentless is a constant-moving and violent affair, is visually stimuating to look at, and gives me the impression that this is something I definitely would’ve added to my Coming Attractions piece if I were aware of it through its previous title, Syphon. The film, previously titled Syphon, screened previously at FilmQuest, as well as Grimmfest which supplies the following notes: Tom Botchii, director of ARTIK, makes a […]
