District B13, Taken and Peppermint helmer Pierre Morel will direct action thriller, The Blacksmith. The film is based on the 2011 Kickstart Comics publication written by Richard Sparkman and Malik Evans, and illustrated by Alberto Muriel. The film renames its protagonist, centering its story on Wes Loomis, a high-tech weapons expert for the spy community who is rendered fugitive and on the run when his secret lab is decimated and his colleagues are murdered. Left to his own devices and without his usual tools, he’ll have to improvise his journey of survival as it inches him closer to the dark heart of his profession. Production will begin next year from a script by Source Code writer Ben Ripley. He will produce with Air Force One producer Jon Shestack, Wanted producer Jason Netter, and Jeremy Stein. I honestly don’t know if I can get behind Elizabeth Banks’ own rendition of Charlie’s Angels. I like the concept but it’s tether toward a younger audience along with an electro club redux of Donna Summer’s Bad Girls just wreaks of a lot of “if they can do it, I can do it too”-ness. The new trailer out on Friday certainly tries though, and I might give it a fair watch if I can. Nearly forty years after making music history, thrash metal band, Slayer is teaming up with Trafalgar Releasing, Nuclear Blast Records and Prime Zero Productions for a one-night theatrical event, Slayer: The Repentless Killogy. The short is based on a trio of music videos stemming from the titular Repentless album – the band’s final studio album in 2015. The short film and concert will be screened in over 1500 theaters worldwide exclusively on November 6, and is comprised of two parts: A trilogy of music videos – “You Against You,” “Repentless,” and “Pride in Prejudice” – woven into a single narrative shortfilm thriller written and directed by B.J. That it took three pairs of hands to direct Indican Pictures’ newest horror, 100 Acres Of Hell, serves a bit bewildering for a low budget indie horror. Then again, if genre movies of this kind are more or less your speed, conscionably, you pretty much get what you pay for. The rule especially goes for fans of wrestling and with Gene Snisky starring, there’s enough fan service here to go around. As for the film, it’s a modest, half-decent effort to level out the spectacle with some caliber of drama, though still a task with a script inherent in its machismo and a round of supporting characters fresh from your dad’s arsenal of bros facing a mid-life crisis. Lana Wachowski will return this time to direct in a solo capacity as announced by Warner Bros. Pictures Chairman Toby Emmerich back in August. The original trilogy earned $1.6 billion dollars at the box office centered on Keanu Reeves as venerable “chosen one” in mankind’s long and winding tale of harrowing survival against an autonomous, mechanized onslaught that imprisons mankind through a virtual world known as The Matrix. Reeves and original franchise co-headliner Carrie-Anne Moss will both reprise their roles joining Abdul-Mateen II from a script by Wachowski, and co-writers Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. Ideally this title would have been released first though the goal seems clearly to put the two actresses on radar with the Mark Dacascos-starrer first, with a pending release date for this one coming soon from what I hear. Len Wiseman (Total Recall, Live Free Or Die Hard, Lucifer, Swamp Thing) will direct Ballerina for Lionsgate. Shay Hatten wrote the script for the female-fronted action thriller which will share space in the John Wick cinematic universe as announced back in 2017 According to Deadline on Wednesday, Ballerina centers on ” a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family”. John Wick franchise star Keanu Reeves will serve at a producing capacity with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski. The franchise’s latest, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, scored well over $320 million dollars globally prior to becoming one of Lionsgate’s highest-earning home releases. Reeves and Stahelski, star and director, respectively, are expected to reteam for a fourth film in 2021. Casting and other details remain pending.

The project follows Jason Statham in the role of H, described as “a cold and mysterious character” tasked with moving hundreds of millions of dollars every week.
