My weekend was good! Well… not terrible anyway. Atomic Blonde was on my agenda and I stand by my last words in that piece as we now approach a new week with another installment of The Hit List. BLACK SITE: Meet Samantha Schnitzler As Ren Reid In A First Look Photo

Production continues with upcoming action horror sci-fi, Black Site with actress and martial artist Samantha Schnitzler cast as the lead. Filming started in May and the UK actress just started filming her scenes several days ago, including over the weekend wherein the production unveiled a first look at Schnitzler from the set. Take a look: Tom Paton directs his third outing, hailing from AirPick Pictures and Tom Paton Film and is described as a mix of elements from The Raid and the vision of H.P. Lovecraft. Netflix, Mark Millar’s Millarworld Label Join Forces

Netflix will see plenty more comic adaptations in the coming months, especially if you’re a fan of films like Kick-Ass, Logan and Kingsman: The Secret Service or any from Mark Millar’s catalogue. Netflix has hailed first-ever acquisition of comic book creator Mark Millar’s eponymous staple, Millarworld, marking the first step to bringing Millar’s critically-acclaimed library to film and TV audiences. Millar’s brand will also continue to create more IPs in association with the streaming giant from here on out, as announced on Monday.   The terms of the deal have not been disclosed and it is also not yet known which will be up first. The fact is that it could be any number of titles from Millar’s label such as Empress, Jupiter Legacy or Reborn. I’m inclined to share the news of the latest award wins from this year’s eventful Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal. Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 is reportedly advancing efforts to bring Black Mask Studios comic book property, Black, to the big screen. Studio 8’s own EVP, Creative, Jon Silk and fellow executive Rishi Rajani are reportedly overseeing the development of the film inspired by the six-issue series. Described as a cross between X-Men and The Wire, Black is set in a world where Kareem Jenkins, a young man who survives a hail of bullets, discovers he’s part of a larger, oppressive conspiracy in a world where only Black people have superpowers. New Series In Development As THE DARK TOWER Looks To Stay Standing On The Small Screen

Take what you will from the current outlook of director Nikolaj Arcel’s new movie, The Dark Tower. It may not appear as optimistic as one would hope, as THR suggests, but that doesn’t appear to be hindering Sony Pictures TV any in its own advancement of a small screen carry-over. Samurai Cat helmer Yamaguchi Yoshitaka is poised to bring his latest coming-of-age drama, Popeyed Goldfish, to cinemas this winter in Japan and a teaser is now available to show for his efforts. Adachi Shin adapted the screenplay which sees to our tale of our trademark red-haired protaginist, Masaki, whose hardship from childhood transforms him into an unbeatable, thick-skinned thug with aspirations of leading his own motorcycle gang. You get to see some of that craziness in the teaser below which also has upcoming Ajin: Demi Human co-star, actor Yamada Yuki who plays Masaki’s longtime friend, Atsunari. Lionsgate’s THE DIVERGENT SERIES: ASCENDANT Finds New Life At Starz For TV Drama Developement

2014 was supposed to be the start of a new theatrical sci-fi action film saga with the release of Neil Burger’s Divergent after Summit Entertainment acquired the rights for bestselling author Veronica Roth’s book series in 2011. The film was a Springtime hit which did wonders for the Lionsgate while the sequel, Robert Schwentke’s The Divergent Series: Insurgent, did amply well despite not besting its predecessor the following year. Schwentke returned to the helm for what should have been the third of a four-film series, directing The Divergent Series: Allegiant and ultimately showing a downward trend at the box office for the celebrated YA property. Lionsgate went into brainstorming mode in its autopsy of the film’s lackluster performance and subsequently decided to shelve the film indefinitely in exchange for a potential continuation of the sci-fi saga on the small screen. PARADOX Gets A Stimulating New Trailer And Behind-The-Scenes Featurette

Director Wilson Yip’s latest narrative S.P.L. induction, Paradox, is inching closer to its release in Asia later this month and throughout the Fall and I’m really moreso concerned when we’ll hear on its distribution elsewhere. Everyone and their next of kin is sold on this one as I am and the latest trailer and BTS featurette now online haven’t changed that in the least. As far as the story goes, it’s actor Louis Koo front and center as a Hong Kong cop on a desperate search for his missing daughter, coupled with a series of dark twists and events that arise with the disappearance of a tape that shows her kidnapping. Director Suzuki Kiyotaka’s forthcoming CG anime advancement with NTV series, Infini-T Force, had its roaring day at Anime Expo last month. The show itself  is set to air this October in Japan in celebration of Tatsunoko’s 55th anniversary and now we have a brand new teaser to show for Suzuki’s efforts and those of Digital Frontier. Inspired by its previous 2015 manga, the show launches a new story featuring vocal performances by actors Seki Tomokazu, Sakurai Takahiro Sakurai, Suzumura Kenichi and Saitō Sōma in the respective roles of classic Tatsunoko staples, Gatchaman (G-1), Tekkaman, Hurricane Polymar and Casshern.
