Prior to this year, you couldn’t hear enough from the critics who didn’t enjoy Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop, and so it’s been a hell of a run with the streamer’s latest redemption in the eyes of anime and manga fans with its successful live-action adaptation of One Piece. Alas, the latest trials are yet to commence with director Sho Tsukikawa’s treatment of Yoshihiro Togashi’s longstanding manga classic, Yu Yu Hakusho, with a premiere date set for December 14. BAD BLOOD: Dan Tran’s New Vietnamese Action Comedy Comes To Select U.S. Theaters This Month!

Dan Tran’s latest action comedy just had its theatrical run as of August with Bad Blood, featuring Kieu Minh Tuan, Mac Van Khoa, Quoc Troung and Mai Cat Vi. Tran is now heading up its select theatrical release exclusively at Cinemark, Regal and AMC theaters through his Blue Lantern label, and the official trailer and poster are out as well. Lam, a notorious henchman, lives quietly in a poor neighborhood. When his stepdaughter is missing, he goes back to the remnants of his past criminal network for help and faces a new generation of deadly adversaries. Park Jin-pyo’s newest action comedy, Brave Citizen, is currently sweeping up deals out of Busan’s market as of last week and you can read more about it at Variety. In the meantime, Mindmark is releasing the flick in South Korea on October 25 and below are two of the latest official promotional trailers making the rounds as of the past month. An expelled boxing champion, who now is a high-school teacher, witnesses intolerable violence and throws her first punch to build justice against it, while putting on a mask. Brave Citizen is based on Kim Jung-hyun’s 2014 webtoon publication via Comico and Naver and adapted for the screen by Yeo Ji-na and Hyun Chung-yeol. Filmmaker Kurando Mitsutake is no stranger to pushing boundaries with his work, specifically targeting niche audiences with viewing experiences as old as my own, or even older than that. That particular work ethic brings with it the kind of ferocious, gritty, laissez faire approach that’s usually characteristic of independent film, and ultimately, par for the course for a project like Mitsutake’s newest and bold effort, Lion-Girl. The Witcher game creator CD Project Red’s hit video game property, Cyberpunk 2077, is on track for live-action project development, as of announcements made Thursday. The game’s creative team will be working closely alongside Anonymous Content’s Head of Television Garret Kemble, Director of Development Ryan Schwartz, and Chief Creative Officer David Levine. Launching in 2020 from shepherds Adam Badowski, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and Gabe Amatangelo, Cyberpunk 2077 follows a player character named V who finds themselves in a war against an evil mega corporation following when a near-death heist triggers nanotech in V’s brain, introducing him to the memories of legendary rockstar and terrorist Johnny Silverhand. Javier Gutierrez’s Spanish fantasy horror thriller set in the 1970s is about as dark, cerebral and ghastly as you would hope for if this particular genre is your thing. FANNA: Check Out The Trailer For The Latest Malaysian Action Drama Starring Fify Azmi

2019’s Malaysian hit, Wira, saw the emergence of local cinematic action star Hairul Azreen in the Adrian Teh-directed pic. He was all the craze at Fantastic Fest and ahead of its sold out screening at Beyond Fest this weekend and at Sitges. Now, folks outside the festival purview will get a taste of things to come with a teaser for Legendary’s latest revival out of Troma history, The Toxic Avenger. THE TOXIC AVENGER, a hilarious and action-packed reimagining of the classic Troma film from director Macon Blair features an all-star cast including Peter Dinklage who will pick up the infamous mop to become the toxic hero that no one knew they needed (or wanted) as well as Jacob Tremblay and Taylour Paige with Elijah Wood and Kevin Bacon. It’s Friday morning and it’s as good as time as any to make note of a Tiger Shroff action flick if you’re up for it. Yes, the official teaser trailer is circulating for Ganapath: A Hero Is Born, a futuristic tale brimming with money shots of the airborne action star joined by a nunchaku-wielding Kriti Sanon and veteran star Amitabh Bachchan, with action scenes designed and coordinated by Tim Man and his team. The Hindi actioner is written and directed by Vikas Bahl and arrives from Pooja Entertainment on October 20.
