If you frequented the Hit List enough, chances are you’ll have spotted actor and stunt performer Tien Hoang a time or several. The UK based martial arts wunderkind whose credits partly include Marvel’s Doctor Strange, Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story and Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming Infinite has since seen fruition with his own burgeoning stunt team, Action C, while in Vietnam, all which now bring us to his debut lead role in Ba Cuong’s romantic action comedy, Battle Of The Pupils.
As MAAC notes, the film’s premiere of Vietnamese martial arts style, Vi Binh Dinh by action director Peter Pham (upcoming The Foggy Mountain) sets the pace for Hoang in the role of Khoa, opposite actress Kathleen Phan Vo as Trang, and actor Gi A Nguyen as Hoang. I can’t find much on a plot but the trailer is English-subbed and you can pretty much get the gist of it from there.
The pic punches in locally beginning New Years Day!
