BLUE LOCK Kicks Off Final Trailer Ahead Of August Japan Release
Yusuke Taki’s Blue Lock is coming to Japan cinemas on August 7, and the final official trailer is now up and running. I’m partially anticipating this will get a festival run in hopes that I’ll get to review it, but I definitely want to finish the anime first. Never enough hours in the day for me for that these days. Sigh.
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Japan Football Union is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
Fumiya Takahashi stars in the film which is based on Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura’s hit 2018 Kodansha manga. Also starring are Kaito Sakurai, Kyohei Takahashi, Kota Nomura, Yuzu Aoki, Sho Nishigaki, Yuki Tachibana, Raizo Ishikawa, Joey Iwanaga, Shunya Asano, Yuki Sakurai, Yuki Kura, and Masataka Kubota, with soccer sequences and sports aesthetics overseen with Japan Football Association and the J.League, and former Japan national team midfielder Daisuke Matsui who served as soccer supervisor.
