BRAWLER: Details And First Look Unveiled For Scott Adkins’ Directorial Debut
Capture Entertainment will launch sales this month in Cannes for Brawler, the newest project from actor and martial artist Scott Adkins (Undisputed franchise, Diablo) in his directorial debut. Production photos from behind the scenes have already gone viral while Deadline’s Andreas Wiseman has the latest on the film’s sales movement and production info.
In Brawler, “a disgraced MMA champion is pulled into a violent underworld by the sins of his past, armed only with his fists, he must fight hitmen, criminal gangs, and his own inner demons, to protect those he loves.”
Adkins is directing from a script by Matt Venne with a cast that also sees actor and martial arts star Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2), as seen in the first look image over at Deadline. Larry Lamb and Emily Bennett also star, with Ben Jacques and Craig Baumgarten producing, and respective Signature Films’ CEO and Head of Production & Development, Marc Goldberg and Sarah Gabrie, serving as exec producers. Stunt steward Tim Man reteams with Adkins as fight choreographer following credits such as Accident Man, Boyka: Undisputed 4, and Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear.
Adkins said: “After twenty years of building a career as an actor in the action world, I was ready to get behind the camera. The script for Brawler gripped me and it became clear that it should be the story I tell in my first feature film. I look forward to audiences seeing my work in this new career milestone.”
Producers Ben Jacques and Craig Baumgarten added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Scott again for this important new career expansion as well as seeing the coming together of two action legends that have never collaborated before.”
Adkins has more on deck between now and 2027, including Skyline: Warpath with Iko Uwais, Breaking Cover from director Adrian Bol, period action drama Bedlam, and James Nunn’s action threequel One Last Shot. Recent appearances partly include John Wick: Chapter 4, Joe Carnahan’s The Rip on Netflix, Elliott Montello’s action crime romp Reckless, and Prisoner Of War from Louis Mandylor.
