BYALL: Dystopian Sci-Fi Short Story Adaptation Nabs ‘Creed 2’ Director
Just in time for Thanksgiving, director Stephen Caple Jr. has plenty to be thankful for. He’s officially tapped to direct and produce ByAll, for which Legendary just acquired the rights to develop as a feature film.
Upcoming Space Jam 2 scribes Tony Rettenmeier and Creed 2 co-writer Juel Taylor are adapting the ten-page short story that immerses you in a futuristic Los Angeles where there is no LAPD, setting up a narrative that nods to Michael Mann’s Collateral and Walter Hill’s The Warriors.
Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein will produce for The Gotham Group whose Peter McHugh will exec produce with Max Goldfarb and Jennifer Levine of Untitled.
Reviews for Caple Jr. already pouring in as the spin-off sequel continuation from Ryan Coogler’s Creed seque from the Rocky franchise hits theaters next week. (Deadline)
