The event arrives two weeks prior to Cine Asia’s slated Blu-ray, DVD & Digital Download release on October 29. Loosely based on the 2015 uprising in Yemen, Operation Red Sea centers on the Chinese Navy’s eight-member Jiaolong Assault Unit, trapped behind enemy lines when a rescue mission bookends into foiling an even deadlier terroristic threat. Following suit from Lam’s explosive 2014 espionage action adventure, Operation Mekong, Operation Red Sea became the most successful film of the year at the Chinese box office and the country’s second highest grossing film of all time. Fans looking to tune into something or anything Vin Diesel-related can now pan over to new photos being released teasing the actor’s incarnation of Valiant Comics’ supersoldier, Bloodshot. In the weeks leading up to his world premiere at Busan, the official trailer for Zahir Omar’s Fly By Night arrived in riveting form. It’s an especially notable return fans following local Singaporean actor and action star Sunny Pang (Headshot) for his latest of a few Malaysian stint, here joined by Bronte Palare, Jack Tan, Ruby Yap and Frederick Lee – all lined up for Busan. Jeong Minah disseminates further: In Malaysia, where horror and comedy are the dominant film genres, this is a relatively non-mainstream crime thriller: Zahir Omar’s energetic debut feature depicts the dark criminal world of Kuala Lumpur. Four taxi drivers of various ages commit various small and large crimes against their passengers in order to pay off their debts. As their greed grows, the crimes become bolder. They become more and more violent when their criminal activities come in contact with an upper-class couple in the […]

This 23rd installment of the Busan International Film Festival is just weeks away with some of its most rousing choice entries, specifically speaking: Jimmy Henderson’s latest action thriller outing, The Prey. Enter actor Gu Shang-Wai (Bloody Destiny) for his second starring role with a production inclusive for Henderson’s explicit intent to, among other things, bring him to the world stage – and with a badass gangster-lookin’ new poster to help achieve just that. Henderson penned The Prey with Michael Hodgson and Kai Miller which sees Gu in the role of Xin, an undercop who lands in a remote jungle prison following a botched raid. For this, we further our cast a little more with actor Vithaya Pansringarm of The Last Executioner fame, now staking his claim as the corrupt prison warden host to a decades-old jungle game for hunters in which his own inmates are the targets themselves. The ante […]

Timo Tjahjanto’s new action crime thriller, THE NIGHT COMES FOR US, premieres next month at Sitges from October 5 through 14!
Season two of Iron Fist is now here and with it, the first official teaser for Netflix’s third season of Daredevil. More info will likely emerge in the next few months as New York Comic Con approaches to announce the show’s upcoming continuation from the first two seasons, as that of ensemble spin-off, The Defenders. Actor Charlie Cox’s imminent return gets a foreboding signal this week with Cox in the old black-clad look originally featured in season one and his dialogue seemingly defeats any notion this could be a flashback scene. At any rate, season three could arrive later this year as some hope. Cox is joined by returning stars Deborah Ann-Woll and Elden Henson along with, and Vincent D’Onofrio, Joanne Whalley and Wilson Bethel. In addition, from what I’ve read, Iron Fist S2 actress Alice Eve could land an appearance here as well given the comic mythology, and I […]

Director Marc Price’s new action comedy thriller, Nightshooters, is officially on deck for DVD release and Digital Download in the UK on December 26. The film, which stars SAG-Nominated rising martial arts star, Jean-Paul Ly (Jailbreak), will first have its day vying for Best UK feature’ at this year’s Raindance Film Festival in October. Bart Ruspoli, CEO of Ascendant Releasing, comments: “Having Nightshooters in competition at Raindance is a huge honour for […]

Andreas Wiseman exclusively confirmed the news at Deadline on Wednesday with territories to include North America, UK, and Australia/New Zealand for its 2019 release. Writer/director and self-described Agatha Christie “nut” Rian Johnson and producing partner Ram Bergman are currently readying a company of their own to help finance their next film, Knives Out, ahead of Toronto International Film Festival this week. Production moves forward in November with CAA Media Finance repping North American distro rights, FilmNation on international rights and both co-prepping its rights for China. Knives Out adds to Johnson’s current plate of to-dos for Disney’s Star Wars saga, while nonetheless an opportune […]
