The follow-up to the sensational Japanese film The Machine Girls, Media Blasters recently announced the upcoming release of Rise of the Machine Girls for March 22. The original film is a story of revenge, featuring gravure idol Minase Yashiro in her film debut as protagonist Ami Hyuga. After the murder of her brother Yu and his friend Takeshi by members of a ninja-Yakuza family, she seeks revenge. Ultimately failing, they cut off her left arm. She seeks shelter with Takeshi’s family, who fit her with a prosthetic Machine Gun arm. Teaming up with Miki, Takeshi’s mother who wields a chainsaw, they eventually act out their bloody revenge, massacring the clan and eventually the leader of the bullies himself. Screen Anarchy‘s Todd Brown unveiled on Tuesday the first official teaser for Layers Of Lies, the long-awaited milestone feature debut for Finnish-Iranian actor, martial artist and filmmaker Ramin Sohrab. Filming began early on in 2018 as Sohrab had already ramped up his profile a bit through a number of screen credits, in addition to spectacular demo reels and cuts of his shortfilms showcasing what he can do. With Layer Of Lies, he gets to do all of it and much more, starring as well as producing, and directing from a script he wrote with Chris Larsen (Dearest Sister, The Long Walk) who he added to the project later on as co-writer, according to the initial report. THE PILOT Takes Off This Spring On Disc And Digital From Well Go USA

Well Go USA is raking in the latest World War II epic from director Renat Davletyarov (The Dawns Here Are Quiet) with The Pilot. The film stars Pyotr Fyodorov (Sputnik, The Icebreaker, The Duelist), Anna Peskova (Good Boy), Pavel Osadchy, Maksim Emelyanov (The Blackout, The Search) and Nikoloz Paikridze. Based on a true story: in 1941, a Russian WWII pilot crash-lands deep in enemy territory. Seriously injured, he must battle hunger, extreme cold, and wild animals—all while evading Nazi soldiers—if he is ever to make it home alive. Well Go USA will release The Pilot on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD from March 1, with bonus features including an English dub.

Deaf Crocodile Shells Out A Trio Of Restored Russian And Finnish Classics Re-Releasing In The U.S. This Summer

Deaf Crocodile and Seagull Films are pairing up to release a trio of celebrated classic titles, all new 4K and 2K restorations, in select theaters, on digital and blu-ray starting this summer, and first on the roster brings us a trailer for Aleksandr Ptushko’s 1956 epic, Ilya Muromets (The Sword And The Dragon) which you can view above. The move is part of an ongoing “Russian Fantastika” collection, with Deaf Crocodile’s partner Grasshopper Films shepherding digital and OCN/Vinegar Syndrome for Blu-ray release. The newest official trailer for Nicholas Ortiz’s latest short, Jugando Con Fuego, had an exclusive presentation the other evening over at The Movie Dojo on YouTube and we’re happy to share it here. The film marks yet another reunion with actor and martial arts legend Robert Samuels who stars in the project opposite actor and stunt performer Hector Soria who plays the villain, who previously shared the set with Samuels on Joey Min’s 2019 action feature debut comedy, Yes, Auntie!. Collider exclusively presented the official trailer for Travis Taute’s new thriller, Indemnity, and now we’re proud to help share the word on its pending day-and-date release on February 11 from Magnet Releasing. A traumatized ex-firefighter in Cape Town wakes up next to his wife’s murdered corpse, with no recollection of what transpired. Labelled as the prime suspect, he goes on the run and is soon hunted by a notorious police chief, and an unknown third party. He must now fight for his life and find out who killed his wife, before a conspiracy changes the course of a nation forever. BEYOND THE INFINITE TWO MINUTES Clocks In North America This Month From Indiecan

As far as one-take feature films go, Junta Yamaguchi’s latest mind-bender, Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes, is nothing short of an accomplishment next to some of its siblings from other directors. It’s an inventive little gem of independent, low-budget sci-fi with tons of heart, and I was fortunate enough to go into it a little more in my review last year when it screened for Fantasia. Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes also bowed for audiences at Brussells, as well as London’s Arrow Video FrightFest and a US Premiere at Austin’s Fantastic Fest, all while accruing multiple awards and shows of recognition around the world. AMC Networks’ RLJE Films is announcing the forthcoming home release of Cosmic Sin and Breach helmer Edward Drake’s new actioner, Apex, on DVD and Blu-ray beginning February 8. Co-written by Drake and by Corey Large (The Ninth Passenger), the film stars Bruce Willis as Malone, an ex-cop serving serving a life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit.
