[UPDATED] Check Out Entertainment Weekly's New TERMINATOR: GENISYS Promo Pics!
The past two days have been nothing short of active in lieu of recently-revealed promotional pics from Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive coverage of director Alan Taylor‘s trilogy reboot starter, Terminator: Genisys. Based on EW‘s coverage, the film, writen by Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis, will forsee a revamp of the story that centers on iconic heroine Sarah Connor’s orphaned upbringing beginning at the age of nine years old upon the arrival of a Terminator who becomes her “guardian” who she addresses as “Pops”. Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has either starred in or appeared in all previous Terminator films dating back to helmer James Cameron’s successful first in 1984, is returning to reprise the classic role as the killer-cyborg from the future whose living tissue, sitting atop his metal alloy, has become the segway for the Terminator’s “aging” process while co-existing with mankind.
On Thursday this week, more details are being revealed by way of EW from the director, who says the new film will re-enact the Terminator’s electrifying arrival in 1984 at the Los Angeles Griffith Observatory from the first film. “It’s the holy grail of visual effects,” Producer David Ellison told EW. “You create a walking, breathing human that doesn’t exist.” Of course, no great action thriller can exist without a great villain, and so the producers are keeping an extra tight lid on that detail, except for at least one hint they shared about the particular new villain in the film, describing what Comingsoon.net wrote as “a man-machine hybrid” which they hope will become a major stepping stone in visual effects delivery in addition to semi-digitally reviving Schwarzenegger‘s youth. “Part of the challenge is to dazzle people with something they haven’t seen before,” Taylor said. “There are elements in our main villain that are straining the capacities of our brilliant visual-effects people. So that’s a good sign.”
July 1, 2015 is the new date for Terminator Genisys from Paramount Pictures and Skydance before releasing the remaining two on May 19, 2017 and June 29, 2018. Schwarzenegger joins actress Emilia Clarke and actors Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney to lead the cast along with J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee, Michael Gladis, Sandrine Holt and Matt Smith starring. You can catch a handful of the cast in brand new promo pics from Entertainment Weekly just below.
