Donnie Yen Announces FLASH POINT Sequel In Development

Hong Kong cinema saw a bit of a sea-change in the past decade, specifically with the release of the 2005 crime thriller, Sha Po Lang. The film, also starring Simon Yam, Wu Jing and Sammo Hung, would mark the first of a four-film journey between action star Donnie Yen and director Wilson Yip as the former would commence the next level of his craft into the world of MMA-branded fight choreography.
With this, it was Donnie Yen’s signature film at the time for a new era of martial arts cinema with the 2008 cop thriller, Flash Point, following suit. The film portrayed Yen as a tough Hong Kong Cop in pursuit of a nefarious Vietnamese gang led by actor and martial arts star Collin Chou, and ultimately continued the foreground in what perpetually became one of the single, most memorable fight sequences in the history of the genre.
After this, Yen would essentially retire his UFC-stylized techniques for more formal action attire in a stunning trilogy of Ip Man films, here and now with the third making way for a U.S. release with Ip Man 3 courtesy of Well Go USA. Notably, it’s worth mentioning that the past several years have seen Yen attached to numerous films and projects that have currently remained low key or null with no updates to provide whatsoever; even moreso, the second part of Yen’s Iceman tete-a-tete remains in post-production/release limbo after wrapping two years ago.
Thus, we’ve been left wondering what will be next for Yen after Ip Man 3. The actor did clarify last month that he still had a little bit of fire left in him whilst primarily staving off of kung fu movies, and that little details leaves plenty to be excited for. Well, leave it to this week’s promotional events in Los Angeles where it just so happens MAAC confirmed in a brief statement that Yen would be producing a sequel to Flash Point. There aren’t any casting details yet as this is just breaking news, but what do you guys think?

Wow, I've just read it and I can't believe it! What a wonderful news to start the day! I hope that Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa or Yayan Ruhian (among others) will be with him in the film *.*

I like the idea. Why not use the original story set in Macau's underground fighting world that was meant for the first movie? Also would love Yen to invite Mark Dacascos, Jason Statham and Tony Jaa onboard

I would like to see Dennis To, Tony Jaa, Tiger Chen or Jet li
