CMC Pictures is proudly releasing Escape From The Outland, the latest from director Shen Ao, on January 9 as part of its progressive international rollout. The film stars Xi Qi, Yang Zhao, Ryan Zheng, Simon Yam and Einar Haraldsson.
From Shen Ao, one of the most successful young Chinese directors. His two previous features were major box office hits in China: No More Bets ($550M) and Dead to Rights ($420M). With the same human-centered intensity, Escape from the Outland delivers a gripping survival story with strong international appeal.
Inspired by the true story of hostages who fought for survival, the film follows a Chinese journalist, his doctor wife, and an engineer who are kidnapped by a terrorist group amid sudden chaos in a war-torn region. Trapped with a fellow businessman, they endure 105 days of terror and defiance, risking everything in a desperate bid to escape their captors.
