Generations Of Indonesian Action Collide In Two New Teasers For GARUDA 7!
Indonesia’s role in action cinema has been well rooted in history, long before Welsh director Gareth Evans set the benchmark for the genre with his most recent successes on films like Merantau and The Raid films. As such, household names like Barry Prima and Willy Dozan (a.k.a. Billy Chong) have earned their fair amount of star power over the past several years before Indonesia’s role in action film production diminished. Well, with the slow-yet-graceful uptick in independent production, both actors are now poised to re-emerge with a well-blended cast of other seasoned action stars and young performers in writer and debut director Baf Sjamsuddin‘s newest action-packed feature adventure, Garuda 7.
As a young nation, Indonesia stores some of its darker, more lucrative secrets within several groups of people and agencies, all with different agendas. Garuda 7 is a fictitious crew, based on several conspiracy theorists within Indonesia, which many of them say consists of the best of the best from the military and civilian intellectuals. This film tries to tap in to the underworld of Indonesian history, with values of patriotism and righteous acts of valor heavily embedded inside.
