GINHAWA: Don’t Miss The Teaser For Christian Paolo Lat’s Debut Boxing Drama Selected For Cinemalaya This Month
The 18th-annual Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival sets sail in just four days and the official line-up is already available for attendees to check out. One select includes boxing drama Ginhawa, the feature directing debut from Filipino-Canadian director Christian Paolo Lat who is on hand to introduce teaser footage in the player above.
Anton is an aspiring boxer. He hopes to continue the legacy of his older brother Saul who was given a chance to escape poverty by joining a competition in the city but later faced tragedy. Against his mother’s wishes, Anton leaves their small fishing town to pursue boxing in Manila where he unravels the ugly truth of the brutal sport.
Ginhawa stars Andrew Ramsay, Duane Lucas Pascua, Ruby Ruiz, Rolando Inocencio, Dido de la Paz, Ruth Lopez-Dee, Elan Villafuerte, Shun Andrei Bacalla, Roel Abao, Kiko Matos, Jun Nayra, Jan Rebong and Chanel Latorre. The film’s first of eight screenings will kick off this Saturday at 9:00pm at the Tanghalang Huseng Batute (THB) theater at the Cultural Center Of The Philippines.
