It’s been about six years since Puerto Rican audiences came to know of actor and martial artist Jose Manuel in his 2011 feature debut, El Testigo (The Witness). In the time thereafter, Manuel and those among his tenacious group of creatives at North Compass have been steadfast in amplifying the martial arts genre with a raft of test fights and shortfilms you can find online.
And not for nothing either as the genre did manage to leave a mark in the North American commonwealth. El Testigo was a local hit, thus proving its viability and so it’s clear that Manuel and filmmaker Andres Ramirez only see fit to take things a step further. Ergo, we now await to find out what happens with their latest thrilling, edgy concept, Uncompromised, for which you may have already spotted its trailer as well as an action clip.
At current, I plan on delving further into Manuel’s plans and details regarding his career in a forthcoming interview. As a preamble, Film Combat Syndicate, in association with North Compass, would like to invite you to win, and receive, one of three copies of El Testigo on DVD directly from Manuel himself!
On what seemed to be a normal day, Chelo, unexpectedly witnesses a murder. In the midst of the chase by the perpetrators, the cops mistake him as the killer. He will be forced to fight for his life.
You can click here to read my review and hopefully it will quell your curiousities some. Indeed, it’s worth checking out as Manuel has all but continued to sharpen his craft and overall comprehension of action sequencing and stunt performance to accommodate ample storytelling.

with EL TESTIGO
in the subject header. Include your name and address, and tell us your favorite fight scene from a television show OR feature film showcasing a latin martial arts OR action movie character; the role can be male or female, starring or co-starring…
Since Marko Zaror is the first action star who comes to mind for any fanboy who reads this site or any other (and therefore the easiest), your answer MUST include someone other than him!
The contest expires on April 24 and extends only to North American readers.
