With the hype engine already running for superhero franchise momentum in Southeast Asia, it’ll be writer/director Joko Anwar‘s turn soon enough as we edge closer to the release of upcoming graphic novel adaptation, Gundala. For this, we now have a new glimpse of actor Abimana Aryasatya (3: Alif Lam Mim, The Night Comes For Us) on both sides of the title costume; it’s only at the tail end that we get a quick taste of Arysatya’s Gundala in action, but the teaser itself does an ample job of setting a tone that both mystifies, and satisfies in the action and drama.
Gundala, Indonesian hero created by HASMI has gathered many loyal fans since the comic books were released beginning in 1969. In 2019, the hero will grace the big screen.
Because the nation needs a patriot.
Arysatya leads the cast opposite a villainously scarred Bront Palarae (Fly By Night) and with Tara Basro (Satan’s Slaves) and Rio Dewanto (Foxtrot Six) also starring from a script by Harya Suraminata.
