Pablo Schreiber will lead the cast for Showtime’s upcoming 10-episode Halo series based on the popular Xbox game franchise. The Emmy nominee’s TV and film credits include such shows as Orange Is The New Black and American Gods, and films like 13 Hours and Christian Gudegast’s Den Of Thieves.

Schreiber will play Master Chief, described as Earth’s most advanced warrior in the 26th century and the only hope of salvation for a civilization pushed to the brink of destruction by the Covenant, an unstoppable alliance of alien worlds committed to the destruction of humanity.

He will be joined by newcomer, actress Yerin Ha in the role of Quan Ah, a new character created specifically for the series, listed as a shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both. Ha, who recently earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts for Acting at Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art, shares theatre and television credits including TV series Reef Break and Sydney Theatre Company’s adaptation of “Lord Of The Flies”.

In its adaptation for SHOWTIME, HALO will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. HALO will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.

Halo first took off from Bungie in 2001 and has since sold more than 77 million copies worldwide, and grossed more than $60 billion in lifetime sales worldwide. The new series is produced by Showtime in partnership with 343 Industries, along with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and will begin production this fall in Budapest, Hungary.

Serving as co-showrunners are Kyle Killen (Awake) and Steven Kane (The Last Ship) who will also exec produce with Amblin TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey in partnership with 343 Industries, director Otto Bathurst and Toby Leslie for One Big Picture, Scott Pennington for Chapter Eleven, and Karen Richards. CBS Studios will distribute the series globally.
