HiGH&LOW: THE NEW WORLD Confirms The Presence Of “Bulge” In The Second Official Teaser + New Cast Additions
Now’s as good a time as any to remind folks that the HiGH&Low films that left Netflix back in June have since returned to the streamer for requisite consumption. That means another chance to re-live the saga that began on the small screen in 2015 and segued to a massive film franchise a year later.
For those new to all the HiGH&Low hoopla, consider yourselves invited to one of the biggest parties in Japanese action cinema of the past decade, from Team HI-AX and featuring a cast largely comprised of boyband supergroup, Exile Tribe. It’s especially pertinent to catch the first three films of the saga considering the next feature installment, HiGH&Low: The New World, is en route for a 2027 release, and confirms a line-up of new and returning cast members led by Akira, who appears center stage in the newest teaser now running online.
The teaser also confirms that the new chapter will finally phase in the enigmatic figure known as “Bulge,” per the post-credits tease of 2017’s HiGH&Low The Movie: Final Mission. Akira reprised his role in the film as the former leader of biker gang, Mugen, in a story that saw the all five warring gangs of the S.W.O.R.D. territory unite to unearth secrets of government corruption involving the yakuza-backed Kuryu Group.
The production is taking to the HiGH&LOW: Anniversary Fever festivities in celebration of the film franchise’s tenth anniversary at K-Arena Yokohama, debuting the newest teaser which you can view at the bottom of the page. New cast members were also announced on Tuesday with actors Yusei Yagi (Sakamoto Days), and The Rampage from Exile Tribe member Kaisei Takechi (MBS/TBS series “Red Blue”).
Other returning cast members include Naoto who plays Prison Gang member Jesse in the franchise, and Alan Shirahama who plays Rude Boys member Bernie. Actors Kazuma Kawamura and Hokuto Yoshino will reprise their respective roles as Oya High’s Fujio and Tsukasa from the HiGH&LOW: The Worst spin-off dramas.
HiGH&Low: The New World is directed by franchise familiars Shigeaki Kubo and Norihisa Hinamura for a 2027 release.
